I Ride: all the bikes....
This header is for the R ONLY. It has a different map and the entire fan assembly is removed. I think I put a picture up in the beginning of this thread showing the new and old fan/shroud next to each other.

The new part is basically a modified stock piece NOT INCLUDING the fan and cut out to fit the extended header.

Yes the R already has the map but besides that there is no reason this won't work on a base or S right? I can always get the bike tuned somewhere else.

@gatti man, I don't know of any other ecu than rapidbike that will allow you to tune the ecu but Ducati does make a superstock ecu. I would check with DucShop. Mark should be able to help you....he really knows his stuff.

It's absurde that this pipe should be only for R when the engine is the same of S ;(

@robbysca76, but it isn't exactly the same as the S so maybe that's why...

The only reason I went with the PRO manifold was simply that it was designed to work with the 1199R. On my 1098 I bought both the Termi and Akrapovic and dyno tested everything and decided to tune a Nemesis ECU but all that cost SO MUCH $$$.

The R came with a full system, which I can use the headers on my base model and buy some slip-ons, and I purchased the PRO manifold, at a reasonable price, and I'm ALL set now.

No tuning, I'm pretty much done and it was all designed to work together. Now all I need to do is cam timing and I am through.

I just want the biggest headers possible. I could care less about my radiator fan. My bike is track only.

Wouldn't a super stock evu require an R engine?

Not sure why you say that. the R and S are different models and about a year apart. If they have a newer ECU and different mapping, and Ducati design this for the R then you need to buy an R for it to work with it. Sounds simple to me.

If you want this exhaust I am sure you can buy it and fit to an S but may not work very well on the street.

I sometimes get the feeling that apart from serious track guys who build race bikes the motivation for this type of exhaust on street bikes is just about bragging rights for forum signatures and for trips to the local coffee shop meeting.

Certainly not criticising anyone who races or those looking for different sound fitting aftermarket exhaust but trying to fit a pure race system designed just for racing to a street bike just does seem to be IMHO a good use of money.
