This recall doesn't make sense...

Click this link to the actual recall:

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs...2V270-1976.pdf

It says VIN #'s between ZDM1HBPW4CB through ZDM1B4BPW3CB were affected. Approx 375 units

My VIN has W5CB in it.

So what are the actual identifiers if not the last 4 digits which, aren't clarified as a zone affected in the documentation?

I think I'm going to go to the dealer and look for the "knurled bolt" myself.

I Ride: 2012 1199S
FOR ZDM14BPW8CB001111 (fake VIN)

Z=ITALY
ZDM=DUCATI
1=Street version
4=?some sort of superbike?, looks like another example could be "H", maybe Panigale base/S/tri
B=Liquid-cooled twin
P=engine displacement
W=net brake horsepower (I think we are all BPW)
8=CHECK DIGIT
C=2012 model year
B=Bologna
001111 = serial number

I copied this off the internet, so ymmv; someone please help me out.

So from the recall letter, you have:

1.ZDM 1 H BPW 4 CB xxxxxx range of bikes, plus
2.ZDM 1 4 BPW 3 CB xxxxxx range of bikes.

and your bike

3.ZDM 1 ? BPW 5 CB xxxxxx does not appear to be involved but I guess I don't really know, does the check digit count?

Or something like that, correct me if I am wrong. Does that make sense?

I did not get a letter; was told that it was in "the range" by the dealer while already there

The check digit isn't mentioned in the recall letter in the above link.

Totally baffled.
