Best tuning ECU?

My dealer suggested a power commander w/auto tune, but I was a little skeptical of that. What is actually available in the US, and what is a good choice? Or should I actually pick what my dealer recommends since they probably will not have the software for these other ECUs?

That might work and I could be wrong here so don't bash me but it is my understanding that even if you have a PC with auto tune that the ECU will overwrite thale map to what it sees on the O2 sensors making the map ineffective. The only true way is the either flash the Ecu or disable the O2 sensors so it can run the map, like I said this is my understanding and may not be entirely true

you have to disable closed loop for power commander to be effective at anything but higher rpm/throttle positions. you disable closed loop by flashing the ecu. so you may as well put a new map on there while you flash it.....then you don't really need a PC at that point unless you want it to be an exact tune for your bike....which you don't really need unless you have some out of the ordinary modification like cams or bore/stroke, etc.

Aside from the closed-loop issue, the Panigale is difficult to attach wide-band O2 sensors. You can see a dyno set-up (Tuneboy's) on the Akro full system thread Post #108. The adapter on the rear pipe is an Innovate adapter to go from 12mm to the 18mm wide-band, the adapter on the front is from Bay Area Performance Cycles in Mountain View Calif.

And aside from the closed-loop and sensor mounts the system has trim tables for both cylinders and each gear, so your Power Commander map works differently in each gear.

On top of that, the throttle progressivity tables make it very difficult to tune because you can't just hold a throttle position and do a run. For any twist grip setting the throttle angle changes with RPM.

In short, PCV is more than kinda difficult to tune and that defeats the quick and effective aspect.

My dealer recommends the PCV on top of the customer reflash for disabling sidestand, etc.
Will tune with the full Akra Ti that I ordered. I just went with what they are comfortable with as I thought it would be best in the end for me.

Tuneboy

Tuneboy is what I used. And they just created a map specific for the Akrapovic system.
