Tricolore question

very curious about this. if one were to get their hands on fairings for their bike that were unpainted and you wanted to copy the tri paint scheme is there some kind of outline for it or does the painter have to go buy eye? before anyone says you can buy them thats not the point and yes i know you can buy carbon ones already painted.

I'm lucky enough to be able to get my hands on full carbon fairings for a very cheap price. I'm 99% sure i will just have CCR sean do something extremely special with them but I'm curious about just coping the tri paint job.

Mark,

While I am sure CCR can provide you with an expert opinion. The Tricolore paint job is not that complex and should be very easy to replicate. The item I would focus on is what the paint codes are for the Tricolore.

I gather your considering the standard Tricolore, however have you considered ScrapperX's Carbonvanni Tricolore paint job ?

Having been out riding with ScrapperX before, I can say that the carbonvani tricolore scheme is just amazing. Looks awesome to say the least.

Whatever you decide to go with, post up the finished product.
Thanks from ScrapperX

i have seen the carbon tri just like scrapperx at the bike show. looks amazing. only problem is i think the front plate should be black too. i know carbonvoni also makes a carbon white tri.

cali i am talking about the basic tri color scheme. my question would be how wide is the white stripe going down the side, and where the red would stop, also where the white stripe goes above the ducati on the lower fairing and where does the lower fairing start becoming black. if its off it would drive me insane. paint codes i can find as well and as Cali said the most important part of it

I saw in the past there was someone selling the stickers (aftermarket), so you could probably get the measurements there too....

I'll look for the link, but it was right after the Tri-Colore came out.

Mark, Carbonvanni can keep the white number plate shinny carbon (black) if you wish, just call them direct. I was thinking long and hard along the lines you are thinking about the white but I decided to leave it white and if if bothers me I could easily put some graphics over it to reduce the white but I ended up liking it. The reason I kept it white is because glossy carbon or shinny black paint on the nose is hard to maintain due to a lot of hard canyon riding that I do (a lot of rocks and dirt gets kicked up from the one and only bike/rider I can't over take. I notice on all my black bikes that the front nose was difficult to maintain and the ones with the white nose was easier to use touch up paint, buff out and looks brand new. One thing for sure is that Carbonvanni paint/clear coat is tremendously harder than Ducati's. I get NO swirls/scratches at all on the Carbonvanni parts.

you sent me a long list of what you have done, although i have never seen yours in person i saw a bike at the motorcycle show in NYC that has the same thing done to it. truly is a work of art.

Truth be told if i leave it white i would want the carbon and if i get it black i i will say i should have left it white.

i guess the answer is get both lol

Now you've got me wanting to get Carbovani Tri bodywork for the R

If only I had an extra $5k in hand...
Thanks from mark419ny
