Stock mirrors and red flashing light

Hi everybody. I recently purchased a 1199 and since day one, I've been folding the mirrors in when I park, whether it be at home or wherever, and I remember that when you fold in the mirrors inward towards the windscreen, it stops at a certain point but today I realized that the mirrors can fold to where it'll touch the stock windscreen and then some. Out of curiosity, is this normal or did something break?

Also, I know that when you turn off the bike or lock it, the red light on the dash flashes every 4 seconds or so. I believe this does turn off at a certain point and turn back on at a certain point as well without turning the key on and off again and was wondering if anyone knew how long it takes before the light stops flashing and what would cause it to start flashing again? IE: someone touched the bike.

I thought the same thing, until one day it wasn't flashing and I thought my battery died so I my key in and turned it on and it started flashing again.

Good question. I have had mine about a month and still don't know what the flashy thing does?

On mine the left mirror has a stop (roughly parallel to the rest of bike). The right mirror doesn't and will continue to fold in to where it contacts the windshield. It's a base though I wouldn't think the mirror setup would be any different on an S/R.

The light will flash for a set period of time after the bike is powered down and then shuts itself off. I think it's something like 24 hours, but I can't remember for sure. I assume the thinking is that the blinking light is a theft deterrent, but you don't want it running forever and draining the battery. That's just a guess on my part though.

+1 .. I agree...its about 24 hours..though I haven't counted it... But its simply a deterrent ..It actually does nothing..With regards to the mirrors... With the stock screen or ZG Corsa you should be able to fold mirrors either way...DP screen means you can only fold them forwards otherwise you will scratch the screen...

Does the light not indicate that the immobilizer is active? I'm sure it mentioned this light somewhere in the owners manual, may not describe what it does but pretty sure it says that after a period of time (probably 24 hrs) it will switch itself off so it doesn't drain the battery
