Rev Limiter and the DDA Record

Rather than take a very good thread (Superlight 1199's Converting Street Bike Into Race Bike - See Racing sub forum) off on a tangent thought I'd open this somewhat related subject under a new thread and forum as it doesn't just pertain to racing.
As we know, the Panigale and particularly the R model revs up very quickly. Had the DDA plugged in on my last 2013 ride and inadvertently overreved using the quick shifter 3rd to 4th i.e., I screwed up - has nothing to do with the DQS. It was only for an instant and the limiter, of course, cut in. All was well, lesson learned, carry on.
After reading Superlight's thread yesterday, along with the excellent posts, I decided to take another look at my DDA record for that ride. Maximum rpm was 12,473 for a period of 1/10th of a second. Don't intend to make a habit of this.

That's pretty cool that you had the data to review, 12,473 is a lot of RPM. But I'll bet the WSBK Panigales are revving to 14k so you still have some work to do! Ha ha!

Kinda comforting to have that bit of strategically placed titanium...

Glad you brought this up. I just ran though all my DDA info from 3 days at Jennings in early Feb 2014. Most sessions I ran well under 11k max. I did have one session with 11.5K and another with 11.7K. Mine is base with rev limiter set at 11.2K. Both were under throttle in 3rd gear shifting to 4th. Little surprised it would rev that high before cutting out. As long as it doesn't blow up.

I normally shift in the 10's to keep the stress low on the motor as I don't have the $ or the time to blow up motors for a hobby.
Thanks from Montfort
