Anyway, I thought that one thing he said was interesting, and I want to verify it with the forum experts here...
  • Established fact or close to it: The SL comes with 2 exhaust systems, an installed stock unit that has at least some Ti components (cans at least); and a boxed race system that is 100% Ti
  • Dave mentioned that the stock unit has a cat. Is this true? The stock unit is at least partially Ti and has a cat? And is EPA/DOT compliant?
  • Can you buy the stock SL exhaust and install it on a "base" or "S" model 1199?

Just wondering because that stock SL unit might be an interesting option, i.e. an exhaust upgrade from the stock 1199 (at least in the lightness department) that is EPA/DOT compliant for us California riders.

Thanks!
The SL comes with two exhausts & the stock Akro exhaust is EPA/DOT compliant & has a cat. I have one sitting on my desk at home.

I am fairly confident this DOES NOT fit a stock 1199 exhaust, as the flanges are different.

You are probably much better off with a slip on termi vs the cost to get this one added.

Texas' reputation greatly exceeds its reality. There are considerably more libertarian leaning states in the US.

Funny how the akra ships with a piece of paper saying it is legal and follows EPA noise guidelines, but on the back of the mufflers they say they DONT comply with those standards.

In the end- California is a dump when it comes to it's government. I couldn't imagine living in that state.

I have no problems with my full system on my bikes. It's not like they do smog inspection on your bikes. I have more guns and reloading supplies than most, golf year around, ride my bikes year around. I can go snow boarding in the winter and 1 1/2 hours later lay on the sunny beach in SoCal. Only pay 1.25% property tax. Been to 86 different countries and most of the 50 states and there is no place I'd rather be then SoCal. Complain all you want I'm loving it.
