Akrapovic vs Termignoni

So I'm looking at some proper pipes for the 1199. And Akrapovic and Termis are the obvious contenders whether a full set or slip ons.

Any thoughts on which is better/ better still. and if I should be considering anything specific (not withstanding the fact they're both illegal in Aus).

Or is it all simply aesthetics?

Thx

All options offer a good weight saving:
Termi - most significantly from the slips, since the full sys headers are still steal
Akra - save more weigh on full sys as headers are titanium

All options offer better performance.

All options have dB killers.

Both full systems are a PITA to fit, slips are easier.

Akra options are significantly more expensive.

All sound great:
Termi- deeper grumble
Akra - slightly more edgy rasp

Akra have nice CF bits.

Choose pay / pay choose

Termis is come with the up map key to unlock the performance map in the ecu, so it's a more "complete" solution out of the box. The Akra is light and beautiful.

Jarel, I was under the impression that the Akra ran fine (as they designed it) with stock mapping, just could run "better" if custom mapped?

In the interest of an apples-for-apples comparison, is it fair to say that a Termi system would also run better custom mapped?

I think the Akra does run "fine" with stock mapping but they have to promote it that way since they can't offer a mapping solution with it. With any full exhaust it's going to run "better" and make more power with a performance (aka not EPA-compliant) map. Since the Termi comes with the mapping solution it's already there. With the Akra you need to put on a Rapid Bike or something similar to get there unless you're just going for the light weight and sound from the Akra alone, which is really perfectly fine for many people. I would have put the Akra on mine if it was available when I was building my bike, purely for the weight savings.

I came from the Termis to the Akros and the Akros have a deeper sound for me.

The Akros are 5 pounds lighter than the termis (there's a thread here that did the full weight comparison) but the termis come with the upmap, which is the general fuel mapping (any timing?) for slip ons or the full exhaust.

Aesthetically, I think the Akros match the whites/blacks/Tri vs. the termis on the red.

I ripped the packing out of my Termis and powerkoted (ceramics) it. I probably caught up with the Akra weight loss and my Termis sounds even more awesome.

if akra came with a fueling solution AND guarantee of no warranty issues, i would choose that.

i am happy with my termi slips though. enough money has been invested in the bike
