Nope--not suggesting that. Here's what happened:

I went to add a new listing for the second piece, but eBay requested sending a verification number to my phone. There's no Email option (wtf?). Only problem is, I temp. suspended my CA number. I'm in Ireland now with an Irish SIM. So I went in to change my number to my new number, but eBay wouldn't accept a number outside the US. So I changed my number to a friends in the US who sent me the code, which I successfully entered. Sweet.

Until I went and tried to add the item. A legal disclaimer popped up, to which I hit "ACCEPT". It then took me to a "The page you are looking for doesn't exist...please check the URL." JFC. I couldn't get past the disclaimer (for using PayPal to pay eBay). So I then changed my payment type to a CC. Entered the CC in and it took me to a completely blank page.

Fuck it--maybe it worked. Went back to the posting, uploaded the photos again, etc., and then got an error that said to call an 866 number and provide them with some 8 digit code.

Did that, but the woman was suspicious when I told her I was in Ireland, etc. etc. We then went through 20 questions, one of which I failed (because I didn't know the original email that I used to set up my eBay account in 1999). Anyhow, we got it all straightened out and she said I'm good to go.

Until I tried to post the new listing. Said I can't post unless I'm registered. They sent me an email saying "Account Closed per User Request."

Called back (these calls aren't free!), got a new lady. Explained situation. Then she went through and asked the same sorts of questions....some I didn't have answers to. Then she verified my identity with public records questions. Nailed all of those, until she asked me, "____ Matson owns property in what city in FL." I say, well, he DID own property in XYZ, but he moved a few weeks ago. "She says, so does he or doesn't he." I'm like, "well he DID, but I don't know how current your records are....do you see the problem?" She says, "So is that a no?" I'm like, well, no, he doesn't anymore....but your records don't reflect that, so if I answer correctly, it'll be incorrect, etc. etc....

I answered incorrectly and got it right.

I get that they need to verify shit....but in all of my 150 or so purchases they never asked me to verify my identity beyond my password. It was only when I wanted to SELL something. And the process of having me enter a PIN code sent to my phone is ridiculous when I (or a hacker they're trying to protect me from) can simply go and change my phone number to any other one (in the US). Even worse, they wanted to call me back on the phone number that I'd just entered in order to verify I was who I said I was. Hello? If you suspect I'm hacking into someone's account, how is calling a phone number the hacker just changed to his own any form of protection at all?

Is the eBay high bidder, "Ducati-GQ" on the forum here? Auction ends in 3 hours.

Sold! $177.50. Thanks to all who were interested.

Painting and Plaque

The lighting is really crap at my office, but I wanted to dash this off before I sent the painting off to be framed.

It really does look much better in person and is really just great work all around:
Thanks from AntiHero, Phl, CaliDuc and 1 others

So happy you like. Really does look much better in person than in pics, but it looks great with that phenomenal radiator cap. Can't wait to see it framed.

Final Update

The framing company was uber quick about getting the custom frame together (reclaimed wood with museum glass).

Thought I'd post last set of pics of how it all came together. It's sitting behind my desk at my office (for now) to give me something to get me through this already ridiculous cold NYC winter.

It looks much better than anticipated in the frame

Of course the rear of the frame needed to be adorned with AntiHero's logo and card

This is where I get my true geek on.
Thanks from AntiHero

No luck involved. Deep pockets is what's needed. Great paying job and the financial freedom to splurge on fun items.

Can we be jealous?
