2015 Panigale R doesnt have full LED headlight???

Am i the only one who is interpreting this this way? According to ducati's website the 1299S "shows its technologically advanced nature with a bright, efficient, and stylish full-LED front headlight, along with LED brakelight, turn signals, and number plate light. "

the Panigale R however appears to have only LED rear, signals, and running lights, but not the actual main lamp itself...is this to save weight?

"Another detail that gives the Panigale its total racing look is the twin headlamp at front designed to be an integral part of the front air scoops, with integrated LED positioning lights. The double LED lights at rear harmoniously wrap around the air vents in the seat-tail assembly and, when turned on, create an alluring effect of signalling lights enhanced by stop lights. LED technology is also been used for the front and rear turn indicators as well as the number plate light."

seems to make very little sense that the new R wouldnt be full LED wtf

I'd kinda like to know the same thing. It definitely doesn't point out "full LED lighting" like the specs for the S

From Ducati's website on the new R:
Minimum weight solutions
-3.5kg
A full 2 kg reduction in weight thanks to the lithium-ion battery. 0.5 kg less due to classic headlamp and LED position lights. Another kilogram less with the 9.1 MP Bosch ECU for cornering ABS.
You guys may be right. There may be no LED headlights on the 2015 R.

This new bike is clearly focused at racing. No new electronic adaptive suspension, no LED headlights, no rear seat or passenger pegs. This bike honestly feels more R like than the 13/14 model did. If you want a hard-core purpose built bike, this is closer then last year's bike.

The R is meant to be a race bike, hence getting rid of useless items that add weight.

It's a race bike. Way moreso than the prior 1199R. This is not a bike you'd want to use for a daily-rider, it's got short-skirt 2-ring racing pistons in it, and the maintenance schedule is going to be more intensive for sure, I suspect it will be the same as the SL. This one is a true "homologation special" like the good 'ole days. If you want to fret over it not being streety-enough, you're going in a different direction than the engineers were, they were thinking about how to win WSBK next year. They consider the 1299S to be the premium street & track bike.

i get that this is the real deal and meant to be raced....but there are loads of people who will be buying the bike to be ridden on the street.... its street legal and comes in street trim....and for someone tracking it out the headlight weight wouldnt matter anyways....

im shocked

It's only in street-legal trim so they can sell it, not because their design goal was to make it the best street bike it could be. With the homologation rules it has to be a street-legal bike. I'm not saying you don't have the right to be disappointed that you're not getting what YOU want from an R, but just pointing out what the design goal was for the engineers, which differs from what you want. Why don't you want a 1299S? That's going to be a way better street bike and will have the sweet active Ohlins suspension on it!
Thanks from TricoloreSF, youngR, Jariva and 2 others
