OZ Piega vs. 1199 base wheels vs. 1199S wheels

I've been looking to upgrade my base wheel for sometime now. While I'm aware that the 1199S and to some extent the 1199R wheels can be had on e-bay for slightly less than the OZ Piega, I like the looks of the gold wheels.

I'm getting mixed information as to weights though. Some claim that the Piega wheels are actually heavier than the 1199S wheels, which might place them about the same as the base wheels.

Is there a definitive source for wheel weights somewhere wherein all the wheels are measure in the same way? I see some with bearings, some with tires mounted etc.

no answer to your question, but for the performance it will also matter WHERE the wheel is lighter.

My buddy just put these on his R..... I can report that the Piegas are indeed heavier than the S wheels.... By about 2 pounds if memory serves..... They look great ...but the weight was a shock....

Someone posted the weights quite a while ago and yes the OZ's are heavier than the S/R wheel...which are quite light for an alloy. In saying that I have the OZ's on my R1 and love them, look awesome and they carry there weight very well.

The S/R model wheels are the lightest aluminum wheels out there..

I have a front Piego wheel and i was like WTF, compared to the S wheels I am selling.

Go figure my track wheels are heavier than the stockers I am selling...

The Piega's are few pounds heavier than the S/R wheels.. I just got my bike bike Sunday at the track with the S/R wheels installed and coming from the base wheels, I think it was Trauma who said "It felt like I was towing anchors" is perfectly described. The bike will wheelie everywhere now and feels completely different.. You wont regret them.. Another user on here ^^ has his for sale for $1400 shipped. I'd jump on that. Worth every single penny dude..

Definitely not a "few" pounds more. They're about 2 pounds more than the S/R wheels but still about 4.5 pounds lighter than the base wheels. I highly doubt you will feel the 2 pound difference. You will though notice the sexy Piega look and the chicken feet look. That itself is worth the higher cost and 2 extra pounds.
