Rear stand question?

Hello!

Have a question about the rear stand for our bikes. Since we only have a single swing arm we should use that special rear stand some people sell for $200+.... but would it be ok to just stick a thick metal rod all the way thru the other end of the wheel ( say you leave about 2-3" exposed on each side) and just lift up the bike with a conventional rear stand that has the hooks for the spools? Or that's not recommended and could damage the bike?

Sorry if that's a dumb question but I already have a rear stand and was wondering if it's ok to do that instead of spending the money on a new one.

I'm not trying to lift it up to change the tire or any kind of work. Just wanna lift it up while not being ridden

Cheers!

Wait a second....you spent $15 to $35,000 on a bike and you want to cheap out on a stand? I don't understand.

Step up and purchase the proper stand - the DP stands are junk so stay away (I have a friend that would give you his if he has not already thrown it in the trash).

I have Pitbull stands for all of my bikes and they are great.

RG makes rear sliders that do exactly what you're talking about. I personally like it better for when I'm at the track, makes it super quick and easy to get the bike on and off the stands to put on warmers.

But one big note, if you want stands to service your bike, there's no way getting around having a single sided swing arm stand to remove the rear wheel.

Yea, thats not the case, thanks. I just want it to keep the bike straight and lifted while Im not riding it and is being used as a display piece in my livingroom for my own viewing pleasure

You can for sure stick a metal tube through the axle and lift with a normal stand or whatever you have. I do this now, as I await the shipment of my pitbull stand.

It won't be as sturdy as a dedicated stand, but sturdy enough for me to use my front triple stand so I could take the forks off and change the seals/oil.

Also I have Speedymoto Front and Rear Axle slider that you can put a normal (spooled) rearstand on..
