I actually think it is a beautifull bike, and I know a lot of long time Ducati owners did miss losing the under-seat look - so all in all, not that bad...

Exactly. You mean TRUE Ducatisti. Anyone who doesn't like it is a noob. Brand new Ducati buyers.

You Mellownut, need to embrace technology and progress or admit you are only interested in style. It's OK to be all about style or want collector bikes, but calling someone a noob because they lijke an advanced design is inappropriate. I suppose you hate to see the horrible transmission and it's false neutrals turning into 3rd gear corners too?
I'm guessing that Zard's customer base doesn't race or even ride the track at any kind of advanced pace because the incredibly neutral F/R weight distribution and low CG that a large number of Ducati engineers worked long and hard to achieve was squandered in favor of a more "classic" Ducati look. Thank God us noobs are around to appreciate silly qualities like handling:

It's a trade off , led headlights are heavier but is new technology. Isn't the fact that the cans are carbon fiber a benefit to the weight up high? Aren't ssa proven to be less beneficial than double sided swing arm.

Positioning the exhaust under the bike has weight distribution benefits but adds drawbacks wrt tuning heat etc. technically the bike would be better off if the gas tank was low and the exhaust high .

Personally I could live with both from a styling standpoint if the taillights on the Zard setup were hidden and the belly pan covered.

As far as handling I probably couldn't take advantage of the difference in exhaust placement on a street bike therefore the decision would be based on styling and engine performance.

Pretty much all the exhaust threads I've read on the forum had styling and engine performance and heat as the major concern with very little mention of handling.

Under tail exhausts are also better aerodynamically by the use of exhaust gassed to reduce drag.

sifubs, you hit it on the head. There is always a comprimise between styling and trackworthiness, espescially with "exotics" like a duc. I wouldn't buy them if they were butt fugly, it's why I didnt buy the S1000rr! The 749/999 was an amazing bike, but it's asthetics killed it. All my intentions were here was to call a spade a spade and point out while the exhaust may be attractive to some, it WILL affect it's handling. We all buy these bikes for different reasons, and none are wrong

You can buy the Zard's now! only $6206 - quite a bargain, as they are the only non-Termi exhaust available at this time, and they do have that retro-look appeal!!

$6200. Just crazy. Curious to see how many they will sell. My instinct/guess tells me not many....
