Actually yes thats correct now I think about it. I have a 2014 1199S and I changed to the 41 rear sprocket. The 2014 1199R has the 41 rear sprocket.

I'd strongly recommend the 41 rear sprocket to all 1199 owners as it works much better. You very rarely need to do the ~185mph that 39 tooth stock gearing gives and the 41 tooth still hits 180mph without much problem.
The extra bit of punch the 41 tooth gives is really nice to ride with and the gearing is much more practical for the average corners on most tracks and roads since you get stuck between gears less often.

I'm not able to check my own bike history but from this site which I'm assuming is correct:
1199 Panigale (all models) 2012-2015 - Ducati - STREET

1199 Panigale S/ABS 2012-2014
STOCK SIZES: Chain - 104 Links / 525Pitch | Front Sprocket - 15 Tooth | Rear Sprocket - 39 Tooth
1199 Panigale R 2013-2015
STOCK SIZES: Chain - 106 Links / 525Pitch | Front Sprocket - 15 Tooth | Rear Sprocket - 41 Tooth

I think I have seen peoples posting that they have changed sprockets on their 1299 from 39 rear to 41 rear so I assume that 1299 base and S also come with 15-39 sprockets... Someone with a 1299 can confirm this if I am wrong or correct but that was what came to my mind.

Correct. 1299 came with a 39t. Another vote here for the 41t. It actually made 6th gear usable on the hwy.

I stand corrected, it's still just the R that have 41 rear sprocket from stock, I was convinced they had all been changed to 41 until now. I'll edit my posts to not confuse.

The recommendation for 1199 to use 41 remains The 1299 has so much low down torque maybe the 39 does the job well enough as it is less likely to get bogged down.

Yes, will definitely chang to 15-41 when it is time to change chain and sprockets (probably not before) but with 8000 km on the dash it is still some time until that moment...
