I made my own key mount type.

Anything on the tank gets in the way when I ride. (I always wonder how people can stand doing track days with cams on tank!)

I also have a gimbal attached at times. the only thing is at high speeds it gets some vibrations so I used a couple of wheel weights to help reduce vibrations.

I used to ride with a tank mounted go pro on my 848 and it never got in my way:

For some reason on the 1299, anything between my crotch and the ignition makes it really annoying on the track. I started using a sticky mount on the top of the fairing stay, under the race bubble, but this presented it's own challenges. (Reflection and getting it in/out of there easily):

For 2018 I plan on customizing my own GP style fairing cutout with a GoPro session that will mount inside the fairing and poke out of the front fairing.

I'll post a pic of the two together when I get them set up.

Thanks,

Awesome combo dude.
Please do report back when you've gotten it installed.
Don't know if I would trust that to hold my phone in place. In a car where worst case it'll end up under my seat, sure. On a bike where it's gonna fly off at 120... Not so sure. lol

It's right behind the windscreen and should end up close to where I currently have it mounted in the fork stem. I'll definitely update it if it's not stable to give people a heads up if it doesn't work.

The fork stem one uses a spring loaded mechanism, I think this one kinda screws down to secure it. I'll update with details.

Very cool setup. I hadn't considered that as a mounting point. Thank you.

Yeah that's exactly what I've previously looked into, but this seems like a better option (as far as the mounting itself at least) but might have to find a more secure holding mechanism. Can't wait to hear your thoughts after use.

Okay I received it and it fits well. I'll ride it for a couple days before commenting on durability.

Here's the original screw/bolt from the key shroud.

There's a threaded post on the bike, under the shroud and this screws over it.

Here is the aftermarket female-female extension of the post and the screws that i received with the mount. I bought it used. I cannot comment on whether they are provided with the mount when ordered from Italy.

It all feels pretty secure. Here's a couple pics of the setup.

And a pic of the bike.
