To buy or to pass?

Iím in the market for a used panigale and Iíve come across a 13 1199 with 13000 miles on it for a halfway decent price. Theyíve got it listed for $9995 but Iím sure I can get it lower. Its completely stock and only one owner who was an older gentleman. He purchased it new from the dealership who has it for sale. The only thing thatís got me a bit scared is the higher mileage. I guess what Iím asking is there anything I should be on the lookout for when I go look at it or should I be concerned about the mileage?

How much of a rush are you in to buy? My area had a stock 2016 1299s with 2k miles for $15.9k in mint condition, and a 2011 1199s with cosmetic goodies and a cored exhaust with 3k miles for $12.5k.

I did a quick search, and it looks like lower mileage 1199s' are going for $13k, and some have full exhausts on them.

Basically saying good deals will come around if you can be patient. If you want to buy now, I'd ask for a little bit off it because you're close to the 15k service, which depending on where you take it, can run up to $2k (if you want to do the service).

Good advice.
If you think you will want to modify it a bit later on the smart thing would be to buy one that has the bits already inplace. Cheaper and easier task.

The 1199 is a cranky beast stock and with an exhaust and fueling solution is a much nicer ride. Now the V4 is out the stock of used V2 bikes with the needed accessories will be plentiful, spend just a bit more and take your time.

Prices vary quite a bit, but $10k might be a tad too high with that many miles. You'll hit the 15k-mile service pretty quickly and it'll cost you over $1k.

I got a pretty good price on my 1199S, I paid $11k. It had about 7k miles, but the bike was basically stock and there were some small scratches (never dropped though).

Maybe try talking them down. Tell them it's going to cost you $1k-2k for the next service.

I Ride: 1299SA
I would search around and look for a 1299 instead of an 1199, its a much better engine for general riding.

Thanks for the replyís guys. Iím not in a real big rush to buy but have been looking for a bit now and the pickings are pretty slim up here in the north east. Most of the 1299 are is the 16-18 range and the lowest priced 1199s Iíve found is 14k with 1500 miles. Itís strictly going to be for street use riding to work and the occasional lunch date with the wife so Iím not really looking to spend a whole lot on one.

buy the one for 9995 then. 25000 mile one is going for $8K. Id say maybe 9500 is a little more fair, given that i have seen S models go for 11.

It can be scary buying sight unseen, but a lot of places will ship for $500 anywhere in US.
