I Ride: Panigale 1199 R
Hey Koen,

Amai. This is going to be a major undertaking. I can understand why you bought an R. Mine is coming in March. It is the myth to have an R and I plan to keep it for a very long time. It's a pity that they are not doing numbers on the triple clamps like in the old days with the SP. But times were different back then on homologation.

I admire your perseverance to built this super R and it seems you are pumping the price of an extra R into it in exotic parts. I chose not to track my R. If you fold it up on the track, no insurance. R gone. Instead of that I will have an extra Panigale built just for tracking.

Where will you track it? Zolder, Assen. Hope to see you around, so we can talk.

Hi Patrick,

may ba a wise thing to have both! my diva is a 999R ... pritty lady now she got the full treatment...
this is my last and 'mental' project that i want to be one of a kind...
i'm relying on TC and ABS to keep me from crashing and of course some common sense.
i'm not chasing new laprecords, just want to enjoy the riding and ambiance..
and prodding the project is at least 50% of the fun...

we'll def talk at Assen or Zolder.
I' absolutely adore Assen en will be lookinf forward to running on Francorchamps and perhaps some Spanish and french ones
and who knows, perhaps B harch , donnington and Silverstone.

i m of to Aragon and Valencia on the 999 in march !

keep me informed on your progress.

if you look out patiently , cost on parts can be kept in check... if you're carefull.. value is value... an FGR is an FGR...

Koen

step forward on the TCS

good news on the electronics front!

got it from CORSE :

a simple black box from Corse will fit into the standard R loom and adapt the activation of the TC to the stickiness pirelli slicks.. the outer measures of the slicks on the 16,5 rim are just a couple of MM different and so the only thing to calculate is the stickiness of the type 1 or type 2 compound..

this should be a bill of hundreds instead of the expected thousands (Nemisis later this year - ) or 14K Marelli system.... ( )

ps : there is a similar box for the Michelin tires...

The order has been given for a front, sides, seat and bellypan carbon race suit... should have it end of this month.

The fueltank is due end of march and many brake parts are in the mail.

te rapidbike race is on its way as well..

Good news about the black box!

Where did you order the carbon fairing from? Is it carbon or Kevlar - when I had my 996 SP, John Hackett gave me Kevlar fairing - was real nice - more flexible than the carbon.

What size tank and air box are going to do? I understand the RS bike has a bigger air box and a different (lower) tank.

the carbon suit comes from a local

manufacturer. if it's not ok, i can haunt him

the fuel tank is the standard one with the normal airbox..
in fact, a f a i k, the RS aibox itself isn't bigger but the airbox part in the tank is.

to compensate, the RS tank the is a bit wider to recover or even gain a fex pnds of fuel. The trays carrying the electronics on both sides and the faring bolt on directly to the tank..

i should know how much the RS costs and some more details shortly!

grtz

Let the build begin!

so ! LET THE BUILD BEGIN!

just to put everything together as to triples (52/58) to fit the FGR100 forks, the brembo calipers on the forks and onto the disks mounted on the tire -shod wheels... just a first quick fit

now we can have the front axle made and some small nitbits to hold the sensors..

to stay in line with the Roche styling, it will be the gold disks that go on..

let me tell you : this feels good!

Wow that is going to be some bike when done. But why didn't you just start with a base 1199 instead of the R? Was it because of the engine mods that the R has?
