Looking to buy a 1199R

Hey guys. Iíve been doing a bunch of research already on the 1199/1299 panigales. At this point Iím kinda set on finding a 13 1199r. Mostly to enjoy riding to work. Iím replacing a 07 R1 Iíve been riding for last several years. I know I could just buy a base or 1299s for less but I just always want the highest trim package and the problem is the 1299r is just more than I wanna spend. I always talk about doing track days but never do. I just enjoy my rides to work. So right now i found a 13 1199r with 650 miles on it. Comes with the comfort seat and rizoma rear sets. They guy is asking 19k and it seems from what I can find across the US is a 10k bike is around 17-18k asking price. Iím looking for low miles since I want to put a bunch on it. I ride usually ride 8 months out of the year maybe more. Just wanted to see your opinion on price since you guys probably know the market the best.

The 13R is a handful on the street - not sure you'll enjoy it that much if you're only commuting on it - power comes on high in the rev range, not to mention it's a bucking bronco. The 15+ Rs are definitely more street friendly, but are obviously still at home on the track. My R is used solely for Canyon Carving and Track, and the only times I am caught in traffic is when I'm riding to/from the Canyons. The 1299 is street friendly, and the bike I would have went with if I were considering a street only bike.

With regards to price: 19K for a 13R is high. I've seen 15Rs with low mileage go for under 20K. If you have your mind set on an R, hold out for a 15+. You'll be happy that you did.

Good luck!

if you have 19K to spend buy a 15R great bike and a big jump from the 13R i have owned both they are selling for under 20k

I think it's a pain for the street but you already know that.

Good luck.

So the bucking and being hard to ride. I love that. I Like raw wild toys. I have a rigid west coast chopper. That shakes and bucks an vibrates my hands numb but I love it. I also have a 2008 Z06 N/A 650rwhp with a HUGE cam the jerks through parking lots. I don’t want to drive a normal boring easy to drive car. Now with that said if I could find a 15R for under 20k with 5k or less miles in mint condition I would grab that. From all my searching they are all mid 20k range. Also the 13r with 650 miles I would want to try and get it for 17k

I Ride: Panigale V4S
I've owned both and from what you're asking the 15>R would be the best for you. I use mine for the same, street and the odd trackday, can't fault it on either. Heavy clutch springs to mind when in traffic but you get that on both and most other modern circa 200bhp sports bikes.

I didn't get much benefit from the electronic suspension on the 2014 R, but then that could be more down to my lack of knowledge. The 2014 R needs to be ridden fast and held higher up the rev range, the 2015 R is far more forgiving in that respect and you can cruise easier as such.

I personally would wait......

Just do it
If you like it, buy it. I rode about 10000miles on mine and loved every mile of it (zero miles on a racetrack). Also when it gets darker, because of the Full LED that the later R does not have.
If you put the full Termignoni kit (comes with the bike with a lot of other stuff too, 2 parcels full of spare stuff ), then it rides fine. I made very short drive with a 13 R with the stock and legal exhaust and wow that was bad.
