People Suck

Hey, guys. Bought a 2014 1199s a couple months back and some f*cker tore up the ignition either trying to steal it or out of spite because they were pissed because they couldn't steal it (bike's locked up pretty good, so it would take a while and a lot of noise and sparks to cut through everything). I'll try and attach a pic of the ignition. Anyway, my question is, when I eventually decide to do the repairs, can I just get one of the key/ignition/gas cap/trunk lock kits with the code cards on line and plug everything in or do I need to go the a Ducati dealership to get everything coded or paired or whatever the hell they do for $500 or so? Thanks in advance for the help. And, yeah....people f*cking suck.

Trying to avoid that. Just had a ZX10 that wasn't secured stolen that I made a claim on. Douches came back for the Duc. Obviously, I need to figure out a different storage option for when I get the Panigale fixed, but I'd rather not make another claim if it's only a $800 fix. If this is a plug and play solution, I'll handle it that way. If it's over a grand, I'll have to make another claim. That was the purpose of the thread.

Feel your pain man. I have had 3 bikes stolen from my garage and my son had a supermotard stolen that was chained to a tree and disk locked. If they want it bad enough they will get it. They broke into my car that was parked outside and used the remote to open the garage...so, no more remote left in cars outside. Hope it works out for you, the security/imobilizer system on Ducatis is a pain in the rear. Good luck.

yeah learned that a long time ago, leaving your remote in your car is an invitation. so the remote has to be well hidden if you are going to leave it in the car. but....my car has the remote built into the rearview mirror so there's only one solution and now i have an alarm on my garage door so i get a notification if the door is opened or closed; there's a camera in there, too. i hate thieves. also make sure to hide your home address on all the documents you leave in your car.

For what its worth, if the car has one built into it, it will not open or close the garage door if the car is not turned on. This is a feature that is built into every car for security purposes. IF it does open when the car is off, it should be a recall OR an issue with the car the dealer will be able to fix under warranty, cause it shouldnt do that
