Quick shifting from 4th to 5th issue

Hi after the first day of ownership my 1199 when quick shifting from 4th to 5th and 5th to 6th slips between gears and over revs?? Am I doing something wrong.? Should I be applying more acceleration ??

Lower the shifter a bit, you're not going through the entire stroke. It's what cured my false neutrals.

Mine and quite a few others did the same thing. There are a number of different opinions regarding this, I found when it was new quick shifting at low rpm (under 6k) I would get the odd false neutral and over rev it.

I had a play with the quick shifter when new but was advised to turn it off until I'd run up the kms and bedding in the clutch. So I followed the advice...

At first service I had the clutch bled, turned on the quick shifter and have not had a problem since, very cool.

However as I've said there are a number of opinions on what you should and shouldn't do, this is what worked for me

Isn't that the point of quick shifting?

I think he means the shift lever not the clutch lever

Had this a couple of times myself at lower revs.

You have to be positive with your left foot.

Wait! You have to put your left foot on the clutch lever? Will that relieve the heat issue? Can't resist
Thanks from fireman1251 and slnvail

Hmmmm it is a virus, the heat thing gets into every thread,,, as for the shift issue, be more positive with the shift and don't use the clutch on the up shift after 4000 rpm, the quick shift and clutch action can conflict which feels like slip or over rev... Make sure u don't have the shift leaver set too fine... I found that on the odd occasion on fast changes of direction I can catch the shift rod with my foot and the engine will cut out... Had the same issue on the 675R, takes a little getting used to if its ur first bike with a QS... Doesn't help if u use race shift at the track and. Switch to road shift patten on ur road bike... Infact its a pain in the ass....
