Bar end removal

So I'm trying to take the bar end weights off to put on my new grips. I went to every hardware store in my area and not one of them carries the bit size I need. I'm even struggling finding it online. Does anyone know a store or have a link??

It is a 12mm allen but the configuration of it is alike a star so there are other sized tool that fit it too. Matter of fact another member here , Mark, has had brutal resistance getting his off! Even the dealership said they could not remove them- which I find very hard to believe since they have so many tools. Mark ended up getting a manual impact driver from Sears and I am waiting to hear if that took care of the issue.

Sears had the allen socket he needed so try there man!

Sounds good...I'll give that a shot. I was spending all this time looking for a 12 pt T60 Torx. I never knew how impossible it would be to find that lol

T-18 I believe is what i used to get mine off. It is a weird size to say in the least, however the end result was magical. Vibrations are null

If you've got a Harbor Freight out there they should stock it.

They were actually the first place I checked. Horrible selection of metric tools.

Just got back... Stopped at Sears and Ace. Picked up a 12mm Allen and a 6pt T60 just in case. Both worked like a charm...Thanks!

i can confirm and gunny was talking about me. its a 12 mm and i bought that and an impact wrench from sears. my bar ends are still on, they just wont come off at all. i tried after the dealer. the dealer said he heated the handlebars to the point if they were heated any more they could deform. i guess im stuck.
Thanks from Gunny Fitz
