ECU Reflash

So many threads on ECU flashing, though unsure as to what I would need since most are a bit older, therefore apologies in advance of another one.

With that, have a 2013 1199R that currently is set up to race. I had a Tuneboy map installed (runs just fine) and that's about it. Going in a different direction here in a bit and will install the RapidBike Race module and am wanting to return my ECU back to stock although unsure if this is even necessary. As I'm sure most know, the TB removes the O2 sensors and the RB needs them. Figure the ECU should go back to stock to prevent any crossed signals?

Other than that, want to eliminate the electronic suspension as that is no longer on the bike and anything else that may need to go. I did put smog block off plates on the engine as well.

Have been trying to reach Rexxer to no avail and wondering whom else at this point could do a flash like I would need.

Any assistance/advice appreciated and/or recommendation to whom to send.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Techincally you dont have to revert to OEM, RB has wiring diagram that you can do to supply power to the sensors within the RB loom.

I when from tuneboy to RB, I kept the TB cruise only tune for cruise control.

As for the suspension, you could try and ask wayne @ tuneboy to see if he could do custom tune file to lock out suspension. But this is wayne we are talking about.........

You could just trim back loom and wire in resistors to stop any CEL from popping up.

A reply all the way from Australia - that's cool!

Wouldn't be savvy on wiring in resistors as wouldn't even know where to begin though.

Nice to know I can still use the RB with the ECU as-is if I can't find someone to get rid of the suspension warning.

There was a company selling plugs with built in resistors.
but you could buy plugs from the likes of www.corsatechnic.com and resistors for a few dollars, even if you have to pay somebody to make them up for you still would be cheaper, easier and quicker than trying to have a flash modified.

If you want to experiment, you could try reflash a base map onto the S ecu.....

Try BrenTuning https://brentuningmoto.com

They should be able to do that, their flash and their service is excellent. The handheld also comes in very handy when you need to read your fault codes or reset the service light.

Hey Joe - thanks for the reference. Gave a call to BT, though they seem to be specific to mapping the ECU. Said just hasn't located the place to edit out the suspension error that happens when removing the electronic suspension.

Guess I might be limited to the resistor theory, however NZL the corsatech linky didn't work. Might you have the link to said company that sold them as an assembly (connector and resistor)? Or if you know the resistor to get, I do know a couple of folks that are really good with a soldering iron.

Thanks again gents.

Close - appears those only work on the front end of the 1199 and not the rear shock which I would assume leaves the bike in the same condition of the check engine light/warning light.

I wonder if it's only the connector that is the difference but the resistor is the same and would work if the connector was changed/modified/hot wired?

If you have a multimeter, measure the resistance of the shock/Fork terminals to give you a reading of what size resistor you will need.

Since its a track bike, just cut off plugs a hardwire in resistor.

...or just take a stab in the dark and use a 500ohm to start with.

So the multimeter showed all static resistance about the same 16.9 ohms. All four connectors had the same set up; the outer 2 pins read to the inner two pins. The middle 2 to each other were read open.

There are 16.9 resistors available and guess planning on picking up 8 (2 for each connector) and connecting the outers to the inners; wonder how this is going to turn out!
