Quick rundown on the 1199 models?

i started off with an 05 749 in 2012, 2015 moved up to a 13 848 Corse and now i am looking to add an 1199 (1299 if i come across a deal) to the garage since i now have an adult job. Thing is i am not too knowledgeable on the different variants of the 1199, i see 2012s for 9k to 19k and about the same $10,000 spread in price for the newer ones.

my understanding is you have the 1199 base mode, no ABS or on the fly suspension adjustment, around 11k give or take.

then there is the 1199 "S" and "ABS" which are separate or the same thing?

i am looking for a higher end model, i read that the better ones have a light upgrade as i am 2nd shift so i do ride at night a decent amount so i want all the light i can get, is that correct? i did the 55w HID projector retrofit into my 848 and it's amazing, it's sad how much these bikes cost and then they come with seemingly $40 headlights.

1199 Base has standard headlights, standard wheels, standard suspension, ABS is optional.

1199 S has LED headlights, Ohlins electronic suspension, Marchesini wheels, carbon front mudguard, and I believe the ABS is still optional although I cannot recall ever seeing an S model without it.

1199 R has what the S has + upgraded/lighter engine internals, 500rpm higher rev limit, adjustable swingarm pivot, Termignoni exhaust, lower gearing (41T rear vs 39T on Base/S, aluminum fuel tank, and more carbon parts.

were there any 1199 "corse" editions? i see a lot of them with the graphic but not sure if it's anything more than a sticker or paint scheme

Good luck on the search! I went from a 1098 to the 1199 and even though the 1098 had plenty of balls the 1199 made me feel like i was on a missle lol I cant imagine the jump from an 848
