Laguna Seca and noise levels

Anyone here have trouble riding their 1199 at Laguna? I have the stock exhaust and wanted to know if people have had issues.
I know 92dB is the limit at laguna seca, but the AR thread says stock system measured 109dB.

I had no issues at Sears point, but not so sure about Laguna. Would hate to go there and not be able to ride.

I don't know about the pani- but I do know some people go there and just cruise through the sound sensing area without much throttle and get by. I think its between turn 4 and 5 (not hard to figure out). If you don't open the throttle up, I have heard people get by. Not certain how effective that method is though.

I think they monitor noise as you're charging up Rahal Straight. At least they were when I did my first two levels of CSS. On the S1000, they would have us short shift while charging up the hill to avoid breaking the max sound level. As you know, the Pani is MUCH louder than the BMW, so I would see this being a problem, especially since decibel levels are enforced (at least that's what we were told).

Yep, right after turn 6... my 996, 998 and Monsters always made it, even with custom exhausts, but the Pani is louder for sure. I have two theories (in the absence of actual facts as of yet):

1. The exhaust ports to the side, normally exhaust is measured going up that hill pointed at your arse. In theory, you might get away with more noise being it ports R and L instead of out of your tail.

2. Yes, taking it easy going up the hill helps... you'll get one warning before they black flag you.

Ask the people running the track day if they've had other Pani's and if they've had problems.

Unfortunately it won't pass. Mine's been flagged at Sonoma which has 103dB limits. If you have a stock exhaust some track day operators, such as Keigwin's, allow a 3-strike policy but even short-shifting (which defeats the purpose imo) you'll be hard-pressed to get by the 92dB (on some dates it's 90dB) limit. As you know, track day fees there push $300, add fuel, etc and that's a lot of scratch to risk on a long shot. If you're going on Mon with Keigwin's then it's too late, but for future dates look into Jay Murray's quiet inserts. You'd have to talk to him though to see if he could quiet it down that much.

If you roll, good luck and have fun.

Thanks for the reply guys. Sucks that you can't take a stock panigale to laguna. Was looking forward to this too. My honda has an aftermarket exhaust and will not pass either, so i guess it's a no go.
I don't think i want to spend the money and not be able to ride, will wait for some one else to be the first
I did find a youtube video with a panigale at laguna and he does mention getting into trouble due to noise.
Well, maybe a good reason to get another bike

I agree that LS is just too difficult with anything like an 1199. My track bike (GSXR 750) has its cat cut off and that won't pass the test at LS either?! Seems crazy that you own an 1199 and a track bike and you can't go to a track day at Laguna Seca?!?! Oh we'll hopefully we can get to Infineion a week tomorrow for the first time this season.

I rode our demo 1199 there last year and got black flagged for sound. Just short shift a little exiting T5 and you will be fine.

Hi the bike has a sticker on the frame that rates the sound at 104db.
I had the bike tested and l put the stock mufflers on.
The level was 108db at 3000 rpm.
In Melbourne, Australia this bike is allowed, 5db above the bike rating of 104bd.

I still dont understand... Dont move near a racetrack if you dont like noise. I dont live next to a church because i know i dont want to hear church bells... People baffle me.

I know it was built after and blah blah blah but cmon man its a racetrack. If i cant run my bike on the street open and i cant run by bike on the track more then half way open then whats the point of the bike. Yes there are other tracks but cmon, LAGUNA SECA Ive wanted to ride that corkscrew since the first Gran Turismo came out on Playstation.

Just my 2 cents
Thanks from fmvolume, Pilot and mvgiro
