akrapovic myth?

so i spoken and have chased details of the akrapovic for quite a while.
as time gets closer to release i wonder still to this day weather i should get termi or akra full system.

only real reason why i get stopped from ordering akrapovic which i prefer most is the myth of CRACKING.

so tonite i done a good search and have found that people that have both system have said akrapovic so well made that they have seen termi crack before akra.

so ill ask in this forum with people that had experience with both
have you had a full akrapovic system that has CRACKED. i dont consider the CF shield as cracking. im talking about PIPE crack.

bottom line is i love the akra system but i went with termi slips. why you ask. 1 you get the upmap and every single update with it. i am not going to spend an extra say 1500 on another SS pipe from termi that decreases mid range power.

the reason i didnt get akra. 1 price. they are very very expensive but at least its a full Ti system. 2 tuning. after spending all that money on a system ( if you have the s its about 15% of the bikes price). you have to buy an auto tune and a fuel map (powercommander +auto tune or a bazzers redline whatever.) if ducati comes out with new upmaps you may not be able to use it.

the question is do you want to spend about 5k to gain a few mph on the top end. get real people not one of us can ride the bike like a pro where you would even use the difference.

your buying it for sound just get termi slips

A few things - you don't have to buy auto tube and pc v. You can just get a tuned map for it and its a better option. I've used auto tune on some other bikes. It's not bad but it isn't as good as a tuned map (the concept is, the reality not do much ) You will need/want a tuned map though. If Ducati came out came out with another map are you sure you want it when you have a custom tuned map for your configuration ? The tune guys had a fixed map and +500 rpm on their maps/ecu well before ducati released their "fixed" map.

And the entire point is not to get done extra hp or mph at the top end. I think your mistaking the urban "max hp" myth with the true reason of why people get a tuned map. The reason is that you want a better power/torque curve - not Max mph or top hp number. The real benefit is getting anywhere from 10-20 hp from the mid range on up. If you see 15hp at the 5k to 9k range - that's HUGE. It's not about the extra 7 at the end - its about the extra 15 in the middle. But yes too many focus on the top number but that's not the point.

whole reason is better curve overall
im sure anyone spending this much cash isnt chasing hp for bragging rights but performance overall.

can we get this back on track
the debate for termi vs akra vs AR are in other threads lol

will akrapovic Crack

so far i have seen 2 post that people have said that they have seen termi crack but never a akrapovic
im dont want to purchase a TI that will break in 1 year use

I had the akra full system on my last bike never had any issues. fit was perfect , finish was great , the tuning was an issue but that was cause i had the bazz when it first came out it took a couple of weeks to get it dailed in because of no tuners in the area had used it. When it was done ended up make more power then claimed peak and mid where you spend most your time was smooth and stronger. it was on the bike 3 yrs threw all weather and salt still looked new the clear on the carbon had faded some thats about it.

I had the Akra EvoII full Ti system and PCV on my 1198s. Beautiful piece of kit. Tracked it for two years without any issues.

I went with the Termi full system as they were, of course, first to market and I figured that Ducati would be putting out a lot of Firmware upgrades on this new model so took the easy way out.

If I was looking now, I would be leaning to the Akrapovic, though still may chose the Termi for convenience. I use to love tuning - think I'm getting lazy and just want to flick the start and ride.

The reason why there are no 1199 Akra systems for sale still is that Akrapovic wanted to perfect the pipe, so that you will not have any problems with it and that includes cracking
They will be available in May

yes i agree with you on the mid range. maybe i wasnt as clear i was referring to the termi system on that part. my bad and when i was talking to akra they said you didnt need a tune at all but who knows. price is very high
