Here's yet another video posted on this forum today (3/30) by a fellow forum member (ukrr) test riding a newly delivered demo bike in the UK. Panigale leaving Woods at Abergele - YouTube

The video shows white smoke coming from the exhaust under acceleration. I laugh when I hear people call this type of 'issue' a "design feature" lol. feature? It's a damn flaw. REGARDLESS of any explanation. Someone mentioned Porsche doing the same thing...not sure what they own but none of my 3 Porsches smokes in the least. Perhaps worst of all, to expect Ducati to provide an explanation is laughable. They are by no means forthright with information, hence, the numerous posts asking when the hell the 1199 Panigales will be delivered. If they WERE actually transparent, they'd show the production line to squelch all the specualtion. Won't even get started on that.
You won't get ANY answers until after 4/15, the deadline for the acquisition. Bikes delivered will/are "S" models since that's about all that's been made. And IF Ducati (the company) is sold, the current owners are going to care even less than they do now about bike production, deliveries or potential problems. I like Ducati (they're the only bikes I've ever owned and the 1199 Panigale will be my 6th), but as a company, from a financial or customer service perspective, they get low marks indeed.

Hmm..after i watched it again.. about the termi..
the S model didn't come with it right?, and judging by the carbon heat guard it might as well be a full system exhaust upgrade, so probably it just didnt seal right when they change it..

probable false alarm..
maybe you guys were right, i'm beginning to accept the run in oil explanation..

@chuck - so what do you suggest about it?

No, the fact that it has a Termi on it makes it almost impossible for that to be the first start of the bike.
What tech would install the exhaust and not start it?

Those guys look like they've been partying a bit too much and just wanted to take the bike out and hear it.

That smoke is unacceptable. I know for sure that I will not take delivery of my bike if it smokes like that. That's a deal breaker.

At cold or low engine temperature, maybe a strategy to introduce fuel to "re-burn" (residual fuel via the exhaust valve from former combustion stroke) in the exhaust pipe to accelerate or bring up the O2 sensor (though still a 4 wire) and catalytic converter to their optimum operating temperature.

Does this still happen when the bike has been ridden for a while and is already warm-up...

anybody got a good look of the engine temp from the videos?

Older video but you can see a small amount of smoke at the 2:30 mark when they fire it up at the factory.

I Ride: Will be the 1199. Had many toys in the past.
I put my deposit down recently and have decided to wait for this smoke issue to be resolved before I continue with my order. I sure hope Ducati responds in time. Love everything about this bike but what an embarrassment to have a plum of smoke and no explanation.

I Ride: 1199 tri
was just looking at the bike at frasers in australia, and it threw out a heap of smoke, it was late arvo and im guessing the bike had been started numerous times that day, didnt check how many km's were on it, salesman rekons its the new exhaust and that it will go away with time,
usually things like new exhaust take a minute for the metal to heat up, not straight of the mark, was quiet a lot of smoke, and even after being rev'ed it still kept blowing smoke...
thats my observation,
otherwise, the bike feels great to sit on, feels nimble, the dash is a lot smaller than i thought it would be though..

i went to look at the 1199s at my dealer,s open day yesterday, it had the full termi system on and they started it up for us in the showroom, There was that "new system" smell to it, but no smoke at all.

But I know what you mean.. I recently got rid of my RX8 after 7yrs of ownership. The flooding issue became more regular over the last couple of years. And like you... the first time she started after a flood, visibility would be down to zero.. lol

I've been to the dealership and seen the Pani running in the flesh. Yes there was a bucket load of smoke, but I'm not concerned because it seemed like low compression smoke due to residual oil in the chambers and exhaust during manufacturing.
It definitely disappears once warmed up. The sales rep told me it was getting less and less each time he started it up for show n tell.
Needless to say, I've got an S on order and am not worried the least bit.
I had an RX8 as well. Love/hate relationship. I hope the 1199 won't be the same.
