2013 Ducati 1199R Panigale Will Have Electric Power

Article:

Next years Ducati 1199R will take the already über tech Panigale to new heights when the World Superbike homologation special will debut with the Ducati Energia™ Kinetic Energy Recovery system.
Many commentators, including this site, were puzzled when Ducati announced that they wouldn’t be racing their brand new Ducati 1199 Panigale in the 2012 World Superbike Championship. Instead the company decided to homologate the new bike for the FIM Superstock Cup this year meaning the 1198R needed to soldier on for one more year.
At the time we wondered whether the delay might be related to the finalization of the series rules for 2013 as Ducati were known to be most unhappy with the air restrictor that the 1198 must use in the championship.
It turns out to be much more complex than that as sources have revealed to us that the racing homologation version of the Panigale to be termed the 1199R will feature Ducati’s all new Energia kinetic energy recovery system (KERs) as seen on Formula 1 machines.
This radical new development will make the 1199 an even more formidable competitor on track as energy recovered during braking will accelerate a tiny flywheel that will be able to release a stunning thump of additional torque and acceleration as the bike exits the turn.
Although the concept is not new and used in automotive racing applications, the Ducati Energia system will mark the first use of such technology on two wheels. Porsche is expected to include the system in the next generation 911. This means the 1199R will continue the trend of ground breaking technology seen on the 2008 Ducati 1098R which introduced traction control to a production motorcycle for the first time.
With the launch of the Multistrada 1200, Diavel and now the Panigale, Ducati clearly has its sights set on being the leading motorcycle manufacturer when it comes to the implementation of cutting edge technology on two wheels. Details of the Ducati Energia system are hard to come by but we would expect the bike to debut at the 2012 Milan show this November. Certainly the company has been working on the concept for some considerable time judging by the Ducati Energia US trademark that has been filed.
Those who have ordered and are just taking delivery of their Ducati 1199S Panigale Tricolore will have just 12 months or so before their über Superbike will be surpassed by the Ducati 1199R Panigale Energia.

Ducati Energia has been around for a long time. It's not a new term or trademark. Before Ducati made motorcycles they were in the electronics business. When they started making bikes they split into Ducati Meccanica and Ducati Elettronica. Ducati Elettronica later changed the name to Ducati Energia.

Now for the fun part...yes there is a Ducati Energia KERS system already out there.

DRSapp,

I did. but what does that matter. Sure this article is not official, just a rumor right now. But if it hasn't been post here yet, I don't seem what the harm is. I'm new to this forum, so if this is a re-post then excuse this article.

But if this topic does not stir your imagination, then lets discuss as a consumer what we would like to see added to a future Panigale 1199R. Of course, I'm not sure what more they could put on the bike, but between cosmetics, equipment or electronics features, such as addition custom maps, voice GPS, etc.

Yeah madman I posted it here on April 1st as it was a joke from Ducati.

Would be a interesting concept if they ever try to do it

Someone must have flunked his physics class!
Imagine what the mass of a spinning flywheel will do to handling!
If that flywheel is big enough to have any effect on a 200hp engine it will make the bike handle like a schoolbus
