Running it in?

For the lucky ones who have their's, what's the script with the run-in?

600 miles @ up to 6krpm (limiter set as this until you get your first service?), but then what?

Seen on the forums that it's then a further 600 miles, limited to 7krpm. Is this right?, and do you then have to go back to dealer for a 2nd service, to get the limiter re-set?

Cheers H

My Dealer told me to break it in like you would ride normally - This topic has been brought up numerous times and debated heatedly. I just thought I would stir the pot again

600 miles at up to 6K with no limiter. The orange warning region of the rev counter moves down to 6K, but you can rev as much as you like.

After the oil change at 600 miles the limit rises to 7K for a further 1200 miles. Exactly the same, no hard limit its just the the orange region of the rev counter start at 7K.

That depends if you're on your way to Starbucks wearing an icon vest and DC runners or going for a real ride.

So your telling me that I have to run for 1800 with a 7k limit? I don't think so

My bike will be getting 6k from 0 miles and after the first 400mikes will be getting 8k, after the first service it will be having the lot albeit with being ragged to within an inch if it's life

I hate when my runners get dirty from the shifter Do they make 3m tape to keep them clean LOL

And how the hell can I break in 1800 miles when my Starbucks is only 5 miles away. Crap I'll have to go to the one in the next town

Good post Jay and thank fck for that. The thought of being limited to 7krpm over the mountain wi my mates rc8r pulling away is just to painful to imagine. Just need time to get the first service in before the last week in May.
