End of R and new 1299?

A source who claims to be well connected to the factory claimed that next year will be the end of the "R" and that we will see a new 1299? Anybody else heard something like that?

Hmmm, interesting I'd have a hard time seeing them build a bike they probably couldn't race.... But who knows

Supposedly KTM is coming out with the next RC8 based on the 1290 Super Duke R. So based on typical competition between manufacturers it could be possible. Maybe they'll have a homologation special for WSBK with the appropriate displacement and maybe a balls - out 1300 cc twin to finally kick some S1000RR tail in comparison tests. Almost seems logical...

Oh I think it would be awesome if they did, push the limits as much as they can, like the 1098 to the 1098R, if it happens that would be awesome, probably be the R first then the next year the whole line gets the engine, if they follow that suit.

I have not read that anywhere. I don't think Honda, Yamaha, and or anyone else will go for that. In the other manufactures eyes, Ducati already has a 200cc advantage (even though its choked to death and weighted down).

You got a link so we can read it?
Thanks from Pilot
