Will there be a 1299R

Hey guys.

Sharing a feeling with some folks on how the 1299S is a great road bike. What has been said of making a 1299(or whatever the actual displacement of the 1299 is) Spec R?

This will be with the usual R upgrades - carbon, titanium rods, valves, etc.

I Ride: '15 Panigale 1299S, '15 Triumph 675R, '14 Honda Grom, '13 Aprilia RSV4, '10 Yamaha R6, '06 Yamaha R1
It won't happen unless they can convince WSBK, AMA, BSB, World Superstock etc to up the displacement limit.

And that won't happen because the 1199 is so competitive as is.

I Ride: 1199 Panigale/Triumph Speed Triple R
That's why you buy a base - so you can roll yer own.

Want an "R" spec 1299? Build one.
Thanks from Phl and Stw

Im saying that the 1199R will still stay for WSBK. Make a 1299R for the masses.

Ducati won't be making two different production model R.

I agree and concur with all of the above. No 1299R until it's allowed by WSBK and all other racing associations and no way Ducati will spend the money for a 1299R when it serves no real purpose.

so if there's a 1199R for wsbk and a 1299R for the streets, how are they gonna sell the minimum # of 1199R for homologation?
Thanks from b9009b and Samieb

Well.

I do not know how many Rs Ducati sold in 2013 or 2014. What I do know is that they were not limited to 500, just like the 2015s are not. They used to be prior to the Panigale.

Since Ducati sold the Rs and tacked on 500 SLs, who's to say they can't sell 500 1199Rs for racing and the 1299R for the street?

I Ride: '16 Pani R, 1098R Bayliss, KTM1090R.
While I am very impressed with my new R, I do feel that Ducati have devalued the whole R experience with the panigale line.
No numbering and cert plaques etc has made them quite run of the mill in a lot of ways.
So while the Rs are needed as homlogation specials, they certainly don't hold the novelty value they once did.
