IMHO, if one already has a 1199, keep it an use it. I fully agree with Chaotic's statement BTW.

Next time I'm going to buy another Ducati is when they release the it's successor superbike (if it's still running with fuel and its f*#king loud).
Thanks from Scorpio66 and Chaotic

I say, get it if you can...you could be dead tomorrow! In all honesty, I don't know how many hobbies you have etc. if you use the bike a lot, it's your only vice, and financially it's no problem...go for it. But I would assume it's going to run around 5-10k to upgrade, in which case, that's a nice trip a dp on a rental home etc. There are so many variables, it's tough to sit here and give advice. If I'm allowed to spend your money, I say go for it! At the very least you're keeping the demand high and moving the economy! Which reminds me, I'd like to offer you 12,000 cash for your USED 1199R.

What does "dedicated intake camshaft" mean? How is this different from the 1199R?

Instead of cam lobes for the intake and exhaust ports being on one shaft, they have one camshaft for for each the intake and exhaust is what comes to mind.

That's what i'm doing, giving up the 2014 R and getting the new one. I think I'll retire the 2015 to my lounge room on some stands when I'm done. That new look will never get old.
What's the difference other than the white stripe?

Desmodromic valve system with the same cams for intake and exhaust for each cylinder???

I don't think that's accurate. I see two loves per cylinder head on the 1199s.

Looking at the cutaway drawing of a desmo engine right in front of me from back in 2004, my guess would be there are 4 chains now running from the camshaft: two for the intake cams and 2 for the exhaust cams.

Timing chains on the 2015 R now run on both sides of the engine ???

It's Ducati's way for beating around the bush and not saying it's a full Superlegerra motor so people who spend $65k on a bike don't get piss
