1299 Clear Vinyl Nose Fairing Protection?

anyone use those clear vinyl bra self-adhesive (3M type) protectors for front nose fairing/headlights on their bikes against rock chips and scratches??

worth it? recommendations?

Yes & yes. Paintwork was fairly soft on the 1199 and after 12,000 miles it was still in good condition. The cover for the brake light does a great job of stopping stones cracking it, a few people had this problem, especially with tail tidys fitted.

It's a lot of money for what it is but still cheaper than a replacement panel.

Yes, had it on most my bikes. You take it for granted then you see someone's bike that doesn't have it.

The previous owner of my 1199 had it done and for the most part I am really pleased that he did.
I did notice that the pieces on the front vertical sides of the fairings appeared to be yellowing a little which is beginning to be obvious on my Tricolore.
Has anyone else had it discolour?

I've always just bought a roll of the clear 3M stuff and cut my own. I've used it under tank bags or on leading edges. I recently peeled some that had been on my VFR for 6 years and it looked perfect, left no residue, and there was no noticeable changes to the paint. I actually went looking for a new roll last night and couldn't find any locally. I wish I'd put it on my lower before I rode at all. Last time I bought some it was less than $20 for enough to almost coat the entire bike.

I use it on my tank and knee placements on the side fairings. Very tough and nearly invisible.

I never liked how the tank protectors looked, but the 3M stuff works perfect. Doesn't detract from the design of the bike.

It's ok stuff....many swear by it - personally I equate it to plastic slip covers on my grand mothers sofa

A fresh coat of paint as a winter project after a few years can be fun too
