That's what the sticker says and that's what Ducati recommends, but I don't think anyone knows if that's the factory fill for break-in. It's unusual (not unprecedented) to see synthetic oil for break-in, few engine builders recommend it

I'm going to tap out after this. Is the oil you used say anything about using it in a motorcycle or JASO MA suitable? If not I personally wouldn't use it my $20,000 motorcycle. Passenger car motor oil can have a friction system within its formulation to have "low" friction to help minimize friction losses in the motor to aid in better fuel economy. In a sense "slippery" which is bad for wet clutches. You want higher friction so the clutches won't slip and are able to transfer power to the ground. Not saying what you put in will have an effect in such short mileage accumulation but I would have not experimented.

So my bike says Ducati and 1299 Panigale on the side but how do I know if I just got the 899 engine instead.

Shucks.

I'd bet that it doesn't. Much more likely that it's got a special break-in formulation.

You might be right, however we have no proof. Without a letter, explaination from an official from Ducati or a molecular comparison we cant proof it.
