Grips

I do mostly street riding. Anyone change out the 1299 grips yet with more "cushier" and/or maybe thicker grips?

if so; post pics; and, what kind do you suggest?

Progrip 717 grips. That is my suggestion. They are also OEM on the Superleggera

I'd love to put OEM heated grips on mine; the same ones that come on my Multistrada would suit me just fine.

Another vote for the Progrips. I've used the 780s on my 999 & GT, but gonna put 717's on the Pani. The stockers are too hard and small.

I may put heavier bar end weights on too.

I just ordered a set of spyder comfort grips. Bit thicker, very comfortable and they take a bit of the vibration away. Used them on all my sport bikes.

How easy or difficult is it to change the grips??

I purchased the Progrip 717's (just like the Superleggra's)

I don't want to pay the dealer $90+/hour to change them if its simple enough to do it myself.

I'm mechanically knowledgeable enough to be dangerous. I just don't wont to screw stuff up either.

Anyone have steps on changing the grips? More importantly, the throttle grip side?

If you have an air compressor, you can literally have them swapped out in 2 minutes.
No air compressor, 5 minutes? Definitely do it yourself.

if you pay the dealer to change grips then go in the corner and kick your own ass...

Ok, now let's get started.

1a) remove bar ends
1b) take stock grips off. by either working them off the end or cut them off. Compressed air also works to help get them off easier by blowing it between the grip and bar.
2) install new grips. I use soapy water but others use hair spray inside the grips and then work them onto the bar/throttle tube
3) I use a can of canned air with the straw to blow air between the grip and bar to help dry out.
4) let sit overnight
5) go ride

There are a few ways to skin this cat
