1299 S with 41 rear sprocket

I decided to do the 520 Conversion today so I install the AFAM 520 lightweight conversion kit with the DID ZVMX 520 chain, AFAM Superlite Alloy Rear sprocket 41 tooth and steel 15 tooth front. The calibration was a snap the only issue is trying to find a road to do 30-32MPH constant in 2nd gear while its calibrating without getting rear ended or people honking their horns at you LOL.

Well the 1299 already had massive pull and acceleration and the 41 rear made it pull and accelerate even faster as expected. Makes you go through the gears a lot quicker and way more than enough power (Beast Mode X 2) in all gears.

Is it worth going to 41 on the 1299? Well my answer is no unless you are racing or a doing a track days on short to medium tracks. For the street I think the 39 is perfect for the 1299. Although 41tooth rear is really fun

good to know. I was just mulling over gearing changes when I do the requisite 520 swap, and in my case, from your feedback, I'll be sticking with stock gearing for sure. My local track (National Corvette Museum) has some very long straights.

What calibration? Is this something unique to the 1299?

Yes for 1299 - the manual says when you change tire profile or final gearing you have to recalibrate the system for EBC/TC and WC. its in the tire set up menu on the 1299.

I've been swapping back and forth between track and street wheels so I've gotten good at the calibration procedure.

Can anybody spell out the calibration procedure quickly? It is probably the same as it was on my RSV4 (except you had to be going 24mph IIRC). I would just like to have an idea ahead of time.

BTW - I ordered the same kit for my race bike (15/41) initially, but of course I will have various other rear sprockets to change as needed.

Go through the menu till you get to calibration . The menu will tell you when to start and will indicate when finished . Here it is a steady run between 48 kph and 53 kph .
All it takes is a short ride in 2nd gear .
