Side Stand.

How the hell do you put it down when you have race boots on?

Am I missing some trick to this?

Come at it from behind the rearset and use your toe.

Get off the bike first. Heck, I used to use my hand.

I always get off the left side. A down stand is just a tripping hazard. Seen a few people drop bikes that way.

I lift up on the foot peg with my heel and hook it with the bottom of my boot.

There has been talk of this elsewhere on the forum and I have adopted what was named 'The Toe-Technique'

It might also pay you to practice this out of the way in your garage a couple of times before heading out, but it is simple once you know how.

Basically, sat on the bike upright, although slightly leaning the bike to the right can help, take your foot off the peg, bring your toe round to underneath the foot peg. Using the peg as the guide, slide your toe in to the bike and you'll feel your foot catch the side stand, then just lower it as you normally would.

Believe me, some language has come out of my mouth before at petrol stations fighting with it, but after I learnt this way, I've never looked back.

Yes that's it.
Be careful though assuming that the stand is down.
Sometimes it snaps back up while making the same sound as
being locked in the down position.
Visual inspection is key....ask me how I know
