just figured out how to do heated grips on the 1299

there are aftermarket options, but having been a long-term BMW owner, I like having heated grips at my disposal. So it just occurred to me:

- get a set of heated grips, that are OEM for the '15 Multistrada. It will just require a confirmation that the rheostat inside the new Multi's RBW throttle is the same as on the Panigale, and why wouldn't it be? The stock Multi's throttle even has the exact same amount of slop :P So installation should be a breeze.

- now the interesting part. the heater wires from each grip would have to go to some control unit with a switch. I'll have to determine exactly what the current and voltage is for the stock grips, and come up with a switch unit that delivers the same thing. Maybe the best way is to have a small knob as a rheostat, so I can dial in just the right amount of heat, or click it off.

If this goes as I think it will, it will look perfectly stock, except for a discreet switch, mounted inconspicuously on the left side and forward of the key ignition.

I would only consider using the Multistrada for true winter riding. However, during the early and late season, heated grips make that ride home very comfortable, where's it's like 70 during the day and drops to 40 as soon as the sun sets.
Thanks from Steveo

Any news on this project?

Getting colder in Norway any minute now, so I'm considering heated grips myself

I have to check in person, but it's not looking positive - the throttles may be completely different.
