+1 for cleaning the cover with WD40, two years in no issue. I also use WD40 on all parts of my exhaust, wheels...anything metal really. Bike still looks brand new.

I have the same trouble on my 1229
The bike was delievered with sealent mass on the cover :-(
by the try to clean it with a soft natural sponge
the coating was grinded of a bit
The dealer got the sealant mass away with oil but made it worse

--> Its not a paint its a physical magnesium coating - unrepairable

I'm looking for the colour code of a paint that looks similiar
Has anyone dicussed about this with a qualified painter?

I have the same issue with mine. It's a month old and should be perfect but it's not, my 14R had no issues. Luck of the draw I guess.

On metal parts I use WD40 soaked in a magic eraser sponge. Works amazingly well.

So check this out. Does not look like a scratch, more like high heat expansion of some sort. Anyone else with this?

Bike was 24 hours out of the crate :-/
Same goes for the swingarm found out the hard way,

Yes I have had all of those issues with the paint on the covers of my 1299 S. Delicate, some would say wholly insufficient for a Automotive application. Any type of light solvent or hD Cleaner seems to easily make this paint bubble, peal, or remove. Unfortunately learned this the hard way.
