Hi, do you guys (with the shut-off problem) use after market clutch levers? There was a post in a German forum that suggests the problem might be caused by the pin under the Clutch lever not activating the switch on the underside of the handlebar.

The clutch switch has more to it than the dealer knows about. According to Mitsubishi, when engaged it has something to do with the QS and the fueling circuit. Try taping that thing engaged as see what happens to your ride. It is def tied to the TPS/Fueling

+1. No codes. But this is also the same dealer that has fed me BS multiple times (like sizes of o2 sensors that don't even exist).

To the op. Put on a rapid bike or tune boy. That will help, it did for me.

Another "That is just the way they are" or that is just the "Ducati Character" speech

I say BULLSHIT! I have ridden more than 4 other 1299's that do not do what my bike does!

If you pay as much as we do for a 1299S No one should have to put up with that much BS NO ONE! No one(except a fool) l will believe a dealer that tells you that it is "just the way they are" This is supposed to be the premier motorcycle brand..!
As far as your advice to "just ride it hard". You simply cannot keep a bike over 7 000 rpm all the time..You can do that on a track but if you are riding mine on the street you cannot ride it like you describe without either getting arrested or in an accident..Sooner or later you need to go 30 to 45 mph....When you do it surges BADLY and will not hold a steady throttle setting..

I don't care what the motorcycle manufacturer it is, Japanese, German or Italian etc. they ALL should have a responsibility to the public to do something about a bike that is stalling in traffic.
That is friggin dangerous! I guarantee you one thing... If I ever get hurt in an accident due to the bike stalling in traffic there will definitely be a lawsuit against Ducati USA
My bikes stalling problems are well documented..... I have copies of multiple repair orders from the dealer stating they are trying to fix the stalling issue among other things..The dealer has been great however they are limited in what they can do unless the factory rep gives them permission to do or replace something under warranty..

The main problem is as far as I can tell is the Ducati factory/ organization won't even admit they have a problem and the factory rep just shrugs his head and says try this or try that but it NEVER fixes it..
This will be the first and last Ducati I ever buy unless someone can fix this issue.. I am fed up with screwing with it.. I cannot even count how many times it has been in the shop etc.. So far it has been a very beautiful looking but absolute total bitch to deal with..It is like dating a beautiful Italian supermodel... Expensive to buy and keep up (and expensive to accessorize) LOL , however NO matter how good a woman looks eventually you tired of their BS and I am getting to that point..!
I cold trade it in or sell it myself however the main problem is I will lose half of what I have in it if I try to sell it so I am either stuck with it (or take a $15k loss after investing over $30K in it.)

Sorry, just saw in another post that you have replaced the ECU or at least thatis what the dealer told you they did. Did they really? I guess all that is left is the wiring harness itself.

Yes they did replace the ECU ( I have the old one also...) I am contemplating getting the old one flashed and reinstalling it. It will work because it has the same serial number from the bike registered)
However changing the ECU did not fix the stalling issue the first time... So I might have a flashed ECU in it but it still stalls
Besides the Rapidbike Racing unit does a great job of increasing power so I doubt having the ECU flashed would make much difference and it is $400 to get it done by ECU Unleashed..

I'm really tired or throwing money at this thing.

Hi, it seems my stalling problem is solved- I cleaned the clutch switch (under the left handle bar) with contact spray and bent the pin from my V-Trec clutch lever so that it has better contact to the switch. It hasn't stalled once since then. Normally the switch is only supposed to tell the bike that the clutch is pulled while starting in gear, but with the 1299 it is also has something to do with the quickshifter- if a wrong signal is sent, the ignition might be killed.

Hi, after about a week, the stalling problem started happening again, so it didn't have anything to do with the clutch lever pin. In the meantime, my wife blew her engine and got a new one under warranty. The stalling problem was still there after the engine change, so it had to be caused by something other than the engine. Now we have found the real problem- the stalling was caused by a faulty Air Mass Sensor in the air box. If it sends a wrong reading to the ECU, the mixture isn't right (usually too rich) and it dies. Maybe that is the problem. We only caught it because it failed completely and the bike wouldn't start at all anymore. Hope this info helps, cheers from Ty.
Thanks from RetardedTiming
