2015 R Exhaust Upgrade Questions

Evening Gents,

I am the proud owner of a 2015 R which has been brilliant for the first 2000km however I feel it is time to ditch the stock exhaust cans. I am see a lot of conflicted opinions about the construction of the stock R exhaust so I am hoping some of you knowledgeable folks may be able to answer some of my dot points below

- Are the stock R piping / headers full titanium? I.e same as Akra EVO aftermarket / Full Akra DP system
- If not should I purchase the FULL system of just the Akra DP "race" cans - What are the benefits?
- If I retain the stock piping / headers is the flapper valve / servo motor deleted by installation of the Akra DP "race" cans?
- Is purchasing the 899/1199 Akra EVO aftermarket system and use tuneboy a better alternative to either of those listed above?

Thanks in advance.

I am sure it's just the cans you need to purchase .This will delete the flapper valve .
Wait for someone to confirm this but I believe it to correct .

Valve sits above the cans.

The cans will have the highest impact on performance, however, with a better than stock mapping (RapidBike, TuneBoy,...) your issues can be resolved with the current exhaust.

The race silencer kits do not include the Y pipe to remove the 2015 1199R flapper Y pipe Im afraid.

Also,
The 899/199 have different mount setup (3 bolts) V the 2015 1199R/2015 1299 mount which is a clamp.

I assume you can buy that part separately for the 2015 1199R ?

The 2015 1199R Akrapovic is same one as fitted to the 1199 Superleggera, which also came with the race silencer kit with the "race" Y pipe to replace the "Road" version which has the Flapper valve built into it

Picture 1 shows the 2015 1199R / 1199 Superleggera Road legal system with the Y pipe with flapper valve and Catalytic silencers, Picture 2 shows the full race system with the race Y pipe and race silencers.

Also,
From what I was told, 2015 1199R with road system gave 199rwhp, compared to 2015 199R with full open race system fitted, which gave 204rwhp.(UK Dyno)

I know the y pipe mounts different on the 899/1199 to 1299/R. The 1299 and 2015 R have the same setup. But if you replace the whole Evo system it should fit I think to any bike. You just have to watch which slip ons you buy as you can tout the slip ons from a 899/1199 due to the 3 hole bolt pattern. You can get rid of the flapper valve yourself as well.

Well if you intend to take it to a track at some point, I'd advise against upgrading.

I went on a track day with a 102db limit. Tested at 112db!!! (although I question their methods). I did manage to pass the drive-by at 96db though so I was aloud to stay on.

I had the EVO system on the 2013 R and scraped though with that. I'm pretty certain the 2015 R has a bigger bark, or so my ears tell me!! You put the EVO on that and you'll put a small jet to shame

Just my advice/experience anyways.........

Best performance and best value for money you will get out of the Termignoni 2014 WSBK exhaust with TB. The quality of the material is also superb.
