trickle charge batt socket

can some person please advise me I want to trickle charge my 1299 Battery, the plug under the rear set is also a port for dealer to plug in the pc for maintenance, or so I understand?

What pins do I use for maintenance of the battery? or should I just connect direct to the battery with a fly lead?

Just connect with a fly lead. The Junior Battery Fighter off e prey comes with one and has worked fine for me for both my OEM battery and the Shorai I have now.

Just a question wher do you harness the fly lead while riding? Because the positive lead is live and if it chafes thru it could be a issue

I Ride: 2015 Panigale 1299S. 2016 Multistrada 1200S. 2018 Hypermotard 939SP.
Zip tie the lead from the battery to the pre existing harness near the clutch line. Leave about 2-3 inches loose so you can connect to the charger when needed.
The connector has a cap,so you don't need to worry about it shorting out.

I think a cable that's available (and can be tucked away securely) on the side of the bike is the best location as it's more accessible and will be utilized effectively. But, I personally don't like anything hanging off of my bike and use the OEM connector with an adapter to connect it to a normal SAE plug.

O-47 Optimate plug adapter will do the trick and allow you to use the plug on the rear of your bike.

It works for recent MY Ducati motorbikes as they all seem to use the same connector either at the rear seat cowl or under the rider's seat. Please note that due to the accessibility of the plug, I don't toss my bike on the charger as often as I would like to. I just play weekly round-robin on my bikes during the winter non-riding months.

trickle charge batt socket

I trickle charge during the winter months using the right hand twist grip. No problems thus far.

For what it is worth you can also use the lead in reverse and get a USB adaptor to plug into the lead and run a line for a phone etc.

I did it on the weekend and it works great.

along the lines of what's posted above, you can buy the actual 4 pin OEM plug to SAE adapter from Ducati for pretty cheap too, the PN is 51040111A.

It's not as convenient as having a lead right off the battery on the left side, but it is an option if you must use the OEM 4 pin plug.
