Aprilia's 4 makes 220-230 hp and you can buy this from Aprilia. I believe it was fairly easy to get 220+ out of the Desmo motor so this is not an issue.

Yep, it's the Aprilia RSV4 Misano. I think it's around $130k to get the that package and HP if I remember right. Also the maintenance intervals are much more than normal for that bike and HP.

I'm planning on a new RSV4 RF track bike in 2018 but looks like I may need to wait and see what comes out...

Do we think that this might be a head start on the final design, looks like they've planning this for while.

Is that anything at all to do with Audi or just a random bod making this up? Either way it's a damn good idea haha

I actually could see the hp numbers being correct for the WSBK version.

My line of thought here is that the speculation says for current Duc Motogp bikes are producing 280+hp, and the current Duc WSBK are around 230’ish, so if they need to change to a L-4 for a power increase, I would find it reasonable that their design goal would be around 250ish in the WSBK form in 2018. So then we could expect a street “R” version to be around 220ish in hp numbers. I could live with that :-D

I believe it is just a random bod Royal, someone with too much time on their hands, he did quite a good job though.

IMO Ducati should start working on their electric superbike to get that ready and competitive when the time comes. And that will come sooner than later. On the other hand, that is a further rationale to bring out a less powerful, street-friendly version of the already developed MotoGP engine and make as much money as possible without much ado and fuss... and let the engineers use their time to turn cable cars into racebikes.

if this is true a v4 (dont really care about the hp numbers as anything coming out will be fine) sign me up. i have said for a while now how much can you keep getting out of 2 cylinders. ducati has done a great job with the l twin but its time for a 4.

arent hp wars great.

So, no power down low vs v-twin?

I have not seen anywhere anyone in motogp claiming 280hp.
but I'd like to point out that the engines are limited by fuel consumption, engine limits, and also by tires.
In 2006 or 7 or8 (I can't remember) honda was claiming they were reaching near 250 but found it was too much to be able to put to the ground , so they used the engine management to make more traction out of less power .
so what I'm saying is that every bike on the motogp grid could me manipulated to produce possibly 280hp , but they do not - not sure they'd make one lap at 280hp.

the teams are limited on amount of engines per year so the engines have to be set to make it a certain amount of races , and this is extremely limiting. the 21 liter rule is limiting . the tires are limiting.
from what I've read the riders are the biggest limiting factor on horsepower ... simply put we are past the point where the bikes are faster than the riders ability.
put all these limiting factors I'd doubt there would be any teams on the motogp grid who's bikes produce 250hp on the track. 1. they'd run out of fuel 2. they'd run out of tire. 3. they'd run out of engines 4. they'd run out of talent .
IMHO
