Leaked duc info

2018 is going to be v4 250 hp
The reason for the change is that they are unable to produce more power out of v twin plus bike has complete change
From a factory rep in Italy

Wow, sounds amazing!!!

I guess the Anniversario wasn't that bad after all (last V-twin)...

I hope this is true. If so, I called this years ago. You can only put so much R&D $$$ into the twin before it's a wasted effort. You simply can't spin them fast enough to get competitive top end Performance. Plus it just makes more sense. They can build a reliable, detuned version of their GP V4 for less than the continued effort to make the twin competitive and you get twice the development/testing time (Motogp and WSBK running slightly different versions of the same engine). Unless WSBK allows them to run a 1400 cc twin, I see this as the most logical next move. I'm willing to bet they keep the supersport a twin for the purists and use the V4 in all of their superbikes.

I will be more than glad to put my deposit down now. Love the sound of the Desmo V4!

Yup I am a full time arse! Comes with being in the military! I see this as a massive wahh!

Aprilia is from Noale. I just can't see a 250 bhp V4 1000cc coming out from Ducati. (200bhp yes) I mean Christ that's GP power levels. Making that reliable (and rideable) with decent servicing for the road with out forced induction is practically impossible. As for a one off homologation special maybe but they didn't even do that with the desmo. The the top spec almost WSBK RSV4 around 230bhp ish (I think) that you can buy is track only and the donkey has to be sent back to Noale for rebuild at rather short intravels. Yes I realise track and road are totally different for stress.

Granted rich folk will buy anything but I'll believe it when I see it.
Thanks from pedrin and Macattack
