2016 1299 S keys replacement

Hi all. Bought my 2016 1299S a few month ago and lost both of my keys. When I bought the bike, I was told by the dealer salesman that if I lose my keys, I can use the key code to get a duplicate key. But now, they told me I need new keys, New ignition, new tank cap, new seat lock, reprogram the ECU. All and all to about $1100 for parts and labors. That was from Eurosport cycle of Forth Worth. I then tried Ducati dealer in Kansas City and they told me I need to 2 new keys, new key code, new ECU, tank cap, seat lock, and new dash. And they don't even have a price for that at the moment.

Did anyone went through this problem? It seems like the technician didn't know what he's talking about cuz they asked me if I lost my red key or black key. I had both 1199 S and 1299 S and none has any red keys or black key together. They both the same keys. And, with the VIN, key code, proof of ownership, that should give them enough info to make duplicate keys. I understand some keys might need to be programmed to the ECU or cloning the chip, etc.Bbut, replacing other components is just doesn't seem right. Please help!!!
(Tried Ducati of Omaha but they were closed at the time. Will try back tomorrow since they're sponsor of this forum and seems like Matt knows about Ducati better than the other places)

Is there a way I can just by pass the ignition and all? I might just turn it into a track bike. Just doesn't like the idea of getting raped by the stealer.

Got a call back from Ducati of Reno (KC). They said I just need to get two new keys ($62/ea), have them cut at a locksmith, then bring them with the bike to the dealership to program the keys to my bike for $30 fee. Now, that's a very reasonable solution. Ordered the keys and will go this route. I will update this once it's done just so others can get an idea and not get raped by the dealers. Because one wiseman told me that our Ducati aren't like the older series and the key doesn't tied into the dash, ECU, ignition like previous versions. I knew it wasn't right when they asked if I lost my red or black keys cuz that was old keys. Our keys are both the same and black. Thx for all the help and advices.

Question do you get a red key, code card or PIN with new Panigale?

This may be a stupid question, but I am about to purchase a used 2015 1299S and wondering if you still get the red key and/or code card in 2015 panigale models. My last bike was a 2009 Hyper 1100S and it came with a red key which was highly important both for resale and cutting keys. I havent been able to decipher what comes with a new panigale as two dealers in my areas (Toronto) have given me mixed feedback i.e. one guy said it came with a key and then corrected to say its actually a code card and the second guy told me it's actually just a PIN. The guy i am buying the bike says he has never seen either a PIN or code card or red key. Does anyone know what actually comes with a new model?

Your sales scumbag is just that- a lying scumbag. You can order a new key from Ducati for under $100 theyre laser cut from the factory. The shop then charges you to program it.
There is zero need for any new ecu or locks. Pretty sad the people that work in the dealerships either don't know what they're talking about or are just trying to fuck you

Red key is a thing of the past. You get two standard keys. There's no need to replace locks if you lose one or both. You go to the dealer with proof of ownership and they order at laser cut key from the factory direct. There's no need for codes or anything. All that is on file with Ducati. Man you guys go to some scummy dealerships

No more red key. There is a pin that you can access in the menu. It's set at all zeroes from the factory. You can change it in the menu.
