Let's see what happens on the 999R.

This one is good but will need a fair amount of work. You can see that it has been ridden hard and put away wet and will need a real going through. On top of that, it's in Canada and it will be a pain to import, especially with a seller who doesn't know the regulations. I am sure it's fine to bring back as it was originally a US bike but I will still need the DOT letters and to deal with customs. As I said, a pain.
Did you see the caliper spacers welded to the fork lowers? That weirded me out when considering that bike. All the safety wire and drilled bolts are one thing but that's just too Canadian.

That's like their stupid bumpers.

I think the bike actually saw some heavy tracking early in its life. I think it's a buy at a price where I don't mind spending the money to bring it to pristine and correct. I'll leave things like the 57mm exhaust, wheels, and tank but I'm probably going to put everything else back to stock and completely go through it. The forks need a rebuild, besides belts the motor needs valves and heads checked at a bare minimum and it really needs to be taken down a long way, cleaned and checked and rebuilt. And that's not cheap.

What else I've had: 1973 Ferrari Daytona 365 GTB/4, 1973 Porsche 2.7 Carrera RS, 1979 BMW M1, 1982 Lamborghini Countach LP5000 prototype, 1984 Ferrari 308 GTB, 1986 Porche 930 Turbo, 1989 328 GTB, 1994 348 Challenge, 1997 Ferrari 355, 2001 Ferrari 550 Maranello, 2002 Ferrari 360 Modena (still have), 2007 Ferrari F430.

I might have forgotten something else. Besides the F40, I have the 360, which is essentially a manual Challenge Stradale and I also have a 2008 Mercedes S65 which is a pretty unreal car.

Honestly, I love cars and I still am pretty involved in the hobby but having a lot of cars is hard. I would much prefer to go back to my roots and have a small motorcycle collection. They don't attract as much attention when I use them and they're easier to keep and maintain. But too many motorbikes is a problem too so I am trying to figure that out as well. That's why what Kevin does is so impressive. To have a real collection of that size and caliber is a seriously difficult challenge and he makes it look super easy.

Ha. Sorry. I have been here for a couple years and I think someone mentioned it once or twice over that time and I figured maybe people knew. Anyway, kind of inconsiderate of me. My bad.

Dont be silly, you dont owe anyone here anything, Im new on the forum anyhow, easy for me to have missed it.

Love the prior cars. Out of all them which is your fav an why?

My dream car was a manual 550 maranello but lately here in aus they've gone through the roof and doubled in price lol so thats out the fucking window. Was yours manual?

The s65 is an absolute hwy destroyer. I think most people with "fast" cars would be suprised how quick those cars are if you roll race them..

The 550 Maranello is a pretty special car and my favorite of the front engine V12 cars. All are manual transmission and it's the 575M where the F1 transmission was introduced. I had it for three years and did some epic road trips with it. I'll see if can post some pictures.

Of all of the ones I've parted with, it's hard to say which my favorite was. It might be the 348 Challenge or the 355 Berlinetta but the 550 Maranello was up there too. But honestly, they were all great cars and owning each of them made me a better and more knowledgeable car person. I forgot that there was a 2006 Ford GT in there too.

I'm just got to say this.. If you own a 250.. You'll have no issues buying a couple 308's.. Chump change!!!!

308 4 is a cool car that really doesn't get much attention

Well a Gr.4 308 GTB is a very different car than a 308GT4. It's one of the best competition cars Enzo Ferrari ever made and there are very few in the world. And I believe that's what your criteria was: the top 3 cars Enzo Ferrari built.

Also, I know someone who bought 250 GTO back in the day and still have it and they would have a hard time coming up with the $500k for one of the Gr.4 308 GTB's without selling the GTO.

Same color as the one from the movie bad boys 2, very nice!
Cheers for the pics man, legend. Glad to hear you've had a positive experience with it. Would you call the 550 reliable?

Yeh the 348 challenge is definately a special car imo, what a noise. If im correct that was specifically a track based model?

A ford gt, wow. I think they've shot up in value too lately.
Any other cars new or old you're thinking of adding to the garage?

What's funny is that in BBII they used both a 550 and 575M and dubbed in the sound of a 355. But I digress. My 550 was pretty reliable. I had a problem with its running hot on 100 days in summer when I would put the AC on but I added a steam vent line into the cooling system and replaced the 550 radiator fan shroud with a 575M one and those two things made a big difference.

Yes, the 348 Challenge was a track based car but was road legal. I used to do road trips in mine and I loved it. I had it for several years and used it a lot. It was super special and I debated keeping it and in the end decided that it didn't make sense.

Not really thinking of adding any cars at the moment but if I decide to do car collecting seriously again, I have a list of cars that I would buy. It's not a big list but a few very special cars that I really appreciate.

Finally a week of decent weather. First set of pics of some of the new additions. The paint on the 1199SL is really amazing and hard to appreciate in pics. More to follow...

Pics never do the 1199SL justice. I didn’t realize how pretty it was till I saw it in person finally.
