1299 Race Plastics

How many options are there for the 1299 (in the US)? I know the Armour Bodies is now available (but the belly pan situation is still unclear to me) and I've been told that Sharkskins has a kit almost ready. What other options are there for race plastics? I know I can use 1199 stuff and change some brackets or whatever but I don't really want to do that.

You can use the Ducati track kit which is just unpainted own bodywork. I used MotoXPRicambi bodywork which you can buy unpainted, or painted in two different quality levels at a very reasonable cost.

Does the MotoXPRicambi require changing fairing stay or subframe? I want bodywork that mounts to the stock brackets and doesn't require those dumb blanks for the headlight and tail light openings.

Does Ducati really want $800+ just for the damn belly pan?

Limited options in the US right now, done a lot of research myself. You're on the right track...

Ducati Performance Plastic kit: Will be convenient and look good for the average track day rider but if you're racing or wanting a dedicated track bike I wouldn't go this route. Won't hold up in a crash any better than your stock fairings would and the price is higher than race glass. Also AFAIK, the DP set doesn't take into account the use of a belly pan.

Armourbodies: 1299 specific kit currently available through Woodcraft. Word on the street is that fitment is a PITA, but you can get them now.

SharkSkinz: Currently developing a 1299 specific kit that should be available later this year (I wouldn't expect to have them for the 2017 season). I am waiting on these and running them for next year.

Bellypan: A few people make an aftermarket belly pan and basically you need the Termi or Akra exhaust in order for it to fit. No matter what route you go you will need to make some modifications to get it to fit properly.

Aftermarket subframes and fairing stays shouldn't be necessary for any of these kits but I'll be going with a tighttails rear subframe and either DB or Motoholders fairing stay. Remember that with aftermarket fairing stay you'll need to come up with a custom IMU mount that needs to be in the right location and at the right angle.

The 1299 is not really an "easy" bike to convert to race trim, and certainly not one that is fun to go back and forth from street to track. For me it's a one way street. Good luck!

A few shops that have built some 1299's and can help with consultation: EDR in Oregon, Houston Superbikes, Ducati Detroit.

Sharkskinz has been saying they're developing a kit for 2 years now.

I have the Motoxpricambi...and two of their belly pans. I mangled the first one after trying to make it fit with the Kraitech drain plug...it doesn't. Fack. So removing that with next oil change and going back to the stock plug....

Ducati Performance bodywork from the dealer is the best option. IMO. Best fit, best price and easiest to get.

NW1299 is right about the strength being better for track Fairings but I'm with you on the easiest with DP. I have it on now and I acknowledge that these are to protect one time and need to replace unlike track Fairings... maybe can re use

Yeah but does it come with a liquid holding belly pan? It has to be legal for race orgs not just track days. I thought the Ducati stuff did not hold fluid.
