I called my dealer today to ask about delivery time etc. and to my surprise he told me that it is not longer possible to get a 1299 because they have stopped production and no Ducati dealer in Denmark has one for sale. What I need to do if I want one is to travel to germany and get one from there and that really wouldn't be a problem but the dealer told me that Ducati will unveil a new V4 bike in October/November on a Ducati conference. Now I'm really confused... just as I took the decision on getting a 1299s over the other models I'm now confused again.. Should I wait and see what Ducati will bring forth or should I get the 1299s? What's your thoughts on this? And does anyone have more specific info about the new V4? Man everything is just so confusing at the moment hehe

Ducati 1299s vs BMW S1000RR vs Yamaha R1M

Certainly you can find one 0kms in Sweden for a good price

Or take a look in second hand market bikes with only 2.000kms 3.000kms near you for very good prices

A 1299s is a fantastic thing but if it was me and it was only about 10 weeks till the new V4 was available I would wait. If you hate the V4 when it comes I'm sure a 1299s will be able to be found or a rock bottom priced 1299R FE.

I Ride: Panigale R (Racebike), R1M (Racebike), Aprilia RSV4 RF, KTM 450 SX-FE (MX), Husqvarna FS 450 (SMR)
I have ridden them all and I own a '17 ZX-10RR (racebike), '16 RSV4 RF, '17 Tuono Factory 1100, '15 R1M (racebike), '16 R1 60th Anniversary, '16 Panigale R, '13 1199R and a '17 1299 Superleggera and some other supermoto, flat track and dirt bikes.....

It depends on what you want from a bike. The Ducati is harder to ride but quite good on a curvy mountain road and the most racy of the bunch out the of the box and works quite well with a basic setup if you are between 165-190 lbs. The ZX-10RR and RSV4 BOTH have excellent throttle action which is SUPER smooth and this to me is one of the MOST important aspects in a sport bike. The ZX-10RR is a bit lifeless on the edge of the tire because the electronics are too conservative. The RSV4 is an incredible motor and great drive off a corner and it gets even better with their RACE ecu. The Kawi has a race ecu option but it is for track ONLY as it eliminates the headlights and flash tuning isn't good on the Kawis.... The R1/M is AWESOME BUT the throttle is TOO twitchy, the rear is a bit low and the seat it too slippery. All of these problems can be solved and the FT ECU suite of products is EXCELLENT for THIS particular bike. The auto-blip is magical, the RACE TEAM package gives you some smoother throttle maps and less invasive TC. The R1 or RSV4 are the bike(s) to get. The Ducati is SEXY but it isn't the best street bike. The NEW 2017 RSV4 RF is remarkable and with a simple slip-on, race ecu, Stomp Grip and rearsets you have a bike that has class-leading HP, sounds amazing and the smoothest throttle in the business with excellent brakes and suspension.

Hope I helped give you some insight. Happy to answer any other questions you might have.....ignore the haters.

Wow that's some serious bikes! Your post definitely gave me some more insight. Now for me the Aprilia dont do it. I like the look of it from the side but the front just doesn't appeal to me but man it is one of the best sounding bikes I've ever heard! So, if you had a choice to pick either a 1299s or a R1 to use mainly on the street you would go for the R1? And why not the R1M?
Thanks for your help

I was just in touch with a dealer from Audi that gave me two very good offers. One on the 1299 FE and one on the Anniversario. I'm wondering which one would be the best investment? I know the FE marks the end of an era however they are not limited as the Anniversario which in my opinion make them a bit more special.. Which bike do you guys think will hold its price best? And what would you have picked?
I asked her about the V4 and she said she did not know anything for sure but she had heard they might reveal the bike in September

Yes September is only next month.
I would wait to see what it's like, it may be amazing and a game changer.
Nothing is going to hold it's price, nothing don't buy a superbike thinking about what it will be worth when you sell, if we knew we would have a garage full.

I bought a 996 sps pista very limited addition only 100 produced at the end of the 996 line, the previous owner paid $40,000 AU for it and I think I payed 12 for it or something. In 40 years it will be worth a fortune
