New 1299s. DDA?

I plan to only track this bike.
Reading about the DDA and I have some questions.
*Do I have it?
*How does it work?
Help is appreciated in advance.

You buy it separately along with the GPS unit. The GPS plugs into the loom near the front lights. The DDA looks like a USB and plugs into the diagnostics port in the tail unit.

You turn it on and the GPS and all the bike sensors send information to the unit whilst you are riding. You can then download it and see your information overlaid onto a google map view of the track along with all the data in graphs.

Unless you forked out about $600 when first purchased, you likely don't have it. If you do have it, you would see the small black square GPS unit with a Ducati logo on it, just behind the windscreen at the V at the very bottom.

It's pretty basic, but it works fairly well. You are going to have another piece (USB data recorder) that is plugged into a harness in the tail. It is removable. It is suggested to remove it when not tracking, as there is a small draw on the battery.

Once it's installed and the USB stick is connected in the tail, you can go into the menu on the display and enable the DDA function.. **NOTE** you have to do this EVERY F'ing time you leave the garage and it gets a little annoying. If you don't the GPS won't record any data. It will show you lap times on the screen, but will not record.

The next thing you have to do is use the hi-beam flash switch on the left handlebar while on track to set a start/finish point for the lap. Once this is set, you never need to set it again (unlike enabling the DDA), so that is a plus.

After that, it's recording and you just spin laps like normal. It will pull all kinds of data for you. You will need to download the DDA software from their website to be able to view the data (it's proprietary). Just pull the USB stick in the tail and plug into the PC/Laptop with the DDA software and pull in your data. It will give you lap times, throttle input, gearing, rpm, speed, traction control intervention, engine temp etc.

Thank you both!! Excellent detail Motox.
I didn't see the module in the tail and I need to look a little harder for the GPS unit. Heading out to the garage now.

Where did you get the laptop software to download and access the DDA data?
My DDA didn't come with any software, and I was unable to download the software from the prosa site (there were errors when I tried to install it; the prosa support was no help)

Their site is the only place I am aware that you can get it.

I have a racing background and have used dataloggers in racing. Usability of DDA is not the best as mentioned. And there is a huge fault in this. It does have gps, but it collects speedo speed into data. Which is false all the time, but especially when leaning over. And since they have an abs on board, why not showing brake pressure which is the most important data from any data logger.

My personal opinion, it was waste of money. Total waste. One local guy made far far better data logger himself. Plugged into Racechrono and suitable sensors way better than DDA and a lot less expensive.

RaceDAC - Makes you go Faster!

10hz gps, Racechrono and DAC is easy, fitting suspension sensors, throttle body and brake pressure a bit more challenging. But then you're in 2D level and set for quite good level data to improve your track days, and amateur racing. I did it easily and I am not the best mechanic.

DDA is moderately good for lap timing, otherwise totally useless.

I have DDA+. When I overlay the data on video, it ends up being a very useful tool for improving my riding. I am sure there are better ones, but it served my purpose.

MTB-can you describe how you do that? Maybe a pic?

I just download the logs onto a computer and run the software I wrote to convert to csv format. Then I load the video and the csv in Race Render which generates gauges based on the datalog data.
