I think it's the right way to go for Ducati, but I won't be trading in my 1299S.

I also don't think it will make the 1299's any more desirable.

I just wish they had come up with a new name for it.
Chris, just to clarify, I don't think it will make the 1299 any more desirable in the technical sense of the word either. For me it's all ablout whether it makes it cheaper. I'm close to retirement and my days of flipping all of my vehicles every 2-3 years is probably going to come to an end (currently two cars and three bikes).

Because the other two bikes get ridden a lot, 9-10,000 miles a year on each of them and 4,000 a year on the Ducati, it makes more sense for me to put my motorcycle dollars into upgrading the other two. My Ducati will always be a relatively low mileage bike. The only way I'd flip it for a new one is if the dollars are below a certain threshold. And I could care less about whatever the new V4 has to offer.

I appreciate the conversation this is generating.

I was riding with Alessandro Valia ,(not name dropping) a week ago and he explained what he liked about the bike, (I kind of took his word, as he was one of the main development riders). He basically said the bike holds a line way better and the GP electronics make backing it in or drifting corners effortless. Overall it is more compliant and less exhausting to ride.
He also said the overall power band is better, (fuck @ 226Bhp it should be).

It does everything better than the previous generation does. The problem is I don't. I am nowhere near the limit of my 1299. I got to see the limit last week with Valia....I should probably say I got to watch him ride while being on the track...lol. The 1299 is still fucking amazing. So I will keep my bike and wait for the rest of the aftermarket world catch up with this bike, which may take a year.

Ducati definitely has a winner. They are also the best in the industry at making people part with money..

Cheers.
Good points and agree that NO other company does better than Ducati.

I have few issues like using same S wheels, no new name, not so good looking side, very much like previous Panigale look (was hoping for more Desmo RR look). They went with very edgy and square design look yet the Tank looks MORE round than previous version....Odd.

Having said all that I probably wait few years and see what other Special models come out like SL or Desmo RR version 2. If not, I'll probably pick up later year R model.

I just bought a brand-new 10miles 1199s last month for a decent price. It comes with 24month warranty and I love looking forward riding it a lot over the next 1,5 year...after which I will trade it for a V4 S or R...which is simply incredible and the closest to a MotoGP bike that can be bought nowadays. By that time the early bugs will be fixed, and price may have dropped when the year changes....

And I will enjoy every minute on each bike and will feel the 'improvement' on the new V4 over the 1199 twin.

And still have an 'old lump' 916 to enjoy the 'grunty days'.

Life is good! Happy Ducati has released this new bike!

My bike is at 30000kms so have been thinking weather to get another or not.

I'll wait to see the price in Australia, The panigale has been expensive to play around with,
especially when i got it ready for track duty.

I could not care less for the costs of the V4
I'm going to watch and see if it has any Ducati feel good shit going on.... like water or oil leaks, or cutting out or excessive heat shit...

I like having the latest toys in my toy box, (and the hottest blonde slut at the gym) gagging on my python

Early days for me..... as for the comments on Ducati making clients part with there money? You guys need to meet the team from the UK who make the carbon super cars .... only difference is they build a reiliable vehicle

I'm not overly happy with my 1299 having some issues with it in the recent past so I'm not sure I will, add this pregnant looking V 4 to my collection
Will be reading with interest the comments from the older well schooled members who love the character building Ducati brings to ther boring fuking lives

Jesus christ @Captain Greg, what is your fucking problem?

It seems with every post you are getting more hostile...

If you really have a McLaren, a Ducati, a smoking hot girl, and a huge dick, would you have the need to be on an internet forum bragging about it all the time?

If you don't like your Panigale - get rid of it. Simple as.
It's pretty obvious that 9/10 people on here are sick of hearing you whining about it all the time.

Yes Captain Greg please sell the 1299 already. A good tea bagging surely should sustain you long enough to wad the Mac Klaren!!

Conversely , a huge girlfriend with a smoking hot dick...
(and mandatory tea-bagging) might silence his complaints...
