There are 1199 base selling for less than a 899 now.
That’s because the mining boom is over/work everywhere has dried up and people with money are the older age/smarter with money they want smaller cc bikes/usable power not top end.

So people looking at secondhand panigales that still had money after boom want it for a steal and then you have dreamers to deal with.

If a dealer has a Superleggera on the showroom floor right now, they are going to have to seriously discount it to move it. And yes, I know of a dealer that has one on the showroom floor right now.

I just saw a low mileage one on the book of faces going for $69k. They're gonna have to come down quite a bit more IMO.

Cant see the prices of the 1299SL coming down anytime soon. It's technically a very different bike to the V4 and whilst it does not boast all the latest derivations from the MotoGP bike, it will remain a groundbreaking model due to it's extensive use of lightweight materials and exclusive parts plus it's performance owing to those weight savings.

The best way to determine what it will do is look back at what happened to the Desmocidici. I have not done much research on it, but if I'm not mistaken it's high price was short lived. $70,000 is just a shitload of money for any bike.

Okay, just looked them up. They are holding up now as a collector item. I guess I'm not sure what they did when it went out of production. Might have been a bad example. But then again, it was a totally different bike.

The V4 has a whole new evolution of the electronics now due to the new 6-axis IMU. It has added features such as rear slide control, lean-angle sensitive quickshifter, and the track-focused cornering ABS function.

Desmos dropped after the first year once availability and demand for used ones were no longer out of alignment. But they've always been $50k+ for normal circumstances. Occasionally you'll see one that someone is dumping due to whatever reason (just dumb seller, or bikes with high mileage) for $45k or so, but I think that bike is pretty firmly established as a desirable collector item at this point, and I doubt it will ever go down further in value. It's a real MotoGP replica, and if you've ever ridden one you know how it feels and sounds has never been matched by any other bike, it's very cool.
Thanks from jjsC6 and KMY

Yes but it what it lacks in terms of other new developments incorporated into the V4 it more than makes up for in terms of it's light weight, internally uprated engine and carbon parts, giving it an immense power to weight ratio. Will probably remain as collectible as as D16RR, an original 916SPS or a Supermono. All of which command good money.
